We paid 90 dollars for our room (hotels.com) and I was not expecting much at all. The room was not ready upon arrival (we assumed as much as we got there at 11), We went for lunch and came back around 1 and they had our room ready, fresh and clean (check in is 3 pm), The room is a little small. only wide enough to have a night stand on each side and a king size bed. The bathroom small too. But then again, it was very inexpensive and we were only there for 1 night. The staff was always courteous and friendly. They spoke English. Parking is around the corner and was 16 dols + tax for the day which we thought it was very reasonable. The area was very convenient, but not the prettiest one in town. However you can walk a few blocks either up St Catherine street or St Denis street and the scene will improve.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel so that you are far away from the street noise.

We were here for just one night, to extend our trip by one day. Since the hotel is just in an old building on St-Denis street, there's no loading/unloading area out front other than a single 15-min parking spot. Parking is around the corner in an underground lot owned by the nearby university (UQAM). It's not terribly expensive, and you can come & go as you like. It's just a hassle to get to your car if you forgot to take something out. The hotel looks like it used to be apartments. The lobby, elevator, and hallways are fairly small. The room was very clean. It had hardwood floors, a king-size bed, a fridge, and a large flat-screen TV. In the bathroom, there was one of those paper seals on the toilet to let you know it had been cleaned--classy! The toilet paper dispenser was empty, but there was a spare roll on the towel rack. I hardly noticed because I was too busy looking at the Jacqzzi tub! Sadly, it was a steamy August day, and we were too hot from walking around to use it. The room temperature, though, was fine--there was a regular window-unit air conditioner. For the winter, there are steam radiators. The only thing I really missed (other than the toilet paper) was a comfy chair; there were only two small side chairs. For a clean, basic hotel, this place was relatively inexpensive and just fine for us.

This hotel was a great value. Staff were helpful (and bilingual), the room was clean, and the location can't be beat for those looking to walk to cool neighborhoods: the hotel is two blocks southeast from the start of the commercial strip on St-Denis, about two or three blocks southwest (down St-Catherine) from the Village area (gay district), and an easy walk to Old Montreal and Notre Dame. A cafe is less than a block away on St-Denis, with a convenience store and other cafes a couple of blocks away around the corner (south on St-Catherine). Our room was missing the TV's remote control, but my parents stayed down the hall and had their remote. (We were still able to use the TV, a nice HD, with the manual controls, and were able to use the HDMl plug that ran into the cable box to hook up our laptop and watch DVDs on the TV.)

I've been to many Montreal hotels. I was still looking for THE one, until last weekend. This is it!!! Room with king bed for $89, underground parking (with in-out privileges) for $16, and super clean. I'm in love. The only minor downside was that the A/C sometimes made a clunking noise.
