This hotel is gorgeous -- breathtaking -- old world charm, decor, service, staff -- everything is perfection. We are here for 2 days (three nights) -- my husband and I feel we could just move in and be very happy. We have a junior suite beautifully decorated, wonderful amenities, spotlessly clean - couldn't ask for more. And I am not easy to please! Everything about the hotel is high end - it is steps to the art galleries and shopping in old Montreal - also convenient to downtown-- if we ever visit Montreal again, we will stay here, without question..
Hmmm...what shall I say? I very much wanted to absolutely love this place but there were a few uncomfortable circumstances.
The architecture and design both inside and out are sublime. This place exudes a unique sense of classic elegance and beauty.
Our rooms were both spacious, corner locations that contained every amenity imagineable. The decor was a tad dated but every inch of the room was impeccably, spottlessly clean...love that!
There was a pretentiousness in the air and the attitude and disposition of several staff was snobbish and rude. FIX THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE ! All but these few were beyond compare! The doorman, the concierge, the housekeeping ladies, our XO waiter....absolutely a JOY to be in their presence! They truly made our stay an experience to remember.
Wow is all we kept saying - the hotel, the rooms, the service - all world class. We wound up there since all the old port hotels were booked but turned out to be the high light of the trip & we got room for under $300 from hotel discount site as we drove to the hotel even tho the hotel res agent just quoted $500 - not sure how that works but made it even more enjoyable. We will come back.
We had a splendid stay at this small, intimate hotel. It is quite luxurious -- the entrance, the library, and the rooms. The restaurant is extremely expensive, but since you are located right in the center of Old Montreal, there are many good restaurants within walking distance, as well as breakfast places a few yards away. Our room was lovely, the bathroom and shower wonderful, the bed extremely comfortable, and there was no street noise. The concierge desk provides great service.
For a two-night vacation, we were pleased we paid the higher cost for a wonderful stay at this perfect hotel.
We booked this hotel because we wanted to really splurge for our day in Montreal. Most of the reviews were very good. Unfortunately, we were greatly disappointed. We arrived at 2;30 check in was 4 so we had lunch in the restaurant. Not very good at all.. very expensive. we went to front desk a 3:30 and were told that room was not ready but housekeeping would call back. we waited right there until way after 4 when we asked again. The front desk attitude was that we should be glad she was talking to us and yes, the room was now ready. Why didn't they let us know? The room was nothing special and small. Two small chairs and no way to watch TV from the bed. After dinner we went to the lounge to use the complimentary drink coupons the hotel gave us. They looked at them as if they were trash and told us if we wanted to use them it would only be good for the hotel drink of the day. I will say the concierge was a wonderful person. Friendly and helpful and the only one on the staff like that. So..not a good restaurant, not such a good room, and not even good service so what is the high room rate for?
