Owner description: Maison Saint-Gabriel, museum and historic site, opened its doors in 1966. Located in Pointe-Saint-Charles, this magnificent 300-year-old building is one of the finest examples of the traditional architecture of New France. Purchased by Marguerite Bourgeoys in 1668 to house the King’s Wards, it lay at the heart of the agricultural and educational activities of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame for three centuries.

“An orginal and unique house from the late 1600's”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

A hidden gem, on the bike path from Old Montreal, included in Ca roule's panaromic bike tour for a stop. This house has a French style garden, housed the Kings daughters sent to marry the men here and is a gem of a building from the late 1600's. Well worth a visit a tour. Bring a picnic and enjoy the gardens on a hot summer day.
