With young kid or as family: it's very fun. the garden in the summer with all kind of vegetables. as a city girl, I learnt and saw vegetables I would never seen elsewhere (artichoke flowers, sunflower-its seeds...) also, very nice gardens with a big variety of flowers. When you purchase an entrance for the botanic garden, you also have access to the insectarium, which is much more fun I'd imagined. There are activities and kiosques for kids, like the paper making in the "maison de l'arbre/tree house" section of the garden. This is not actually a tree in the house as most English folk would think. it's an pavilion with activities for the kids and american "bonzais"

As couple: the lantern and the butterfly period of the year are very romantic, just a walk in the gardens is lovely you can sometimes see wild fox and many other little creatures close to the pond.

This can be a fast (1-2h) visit or you can spend the day,

it is excellent, on a clear night. the japanese garden is also delightful at night, great for families, but i would take stroller for children and cane for elderly as is a lot of walking and surfaces are uneven at times

The Chinese Gardens were specially decorated for mid Autumn Festival with gorgeous illuminated lanterns. Also a lovely paper exhibition on at the Japanese Pavilion. Beautiful gardens, evidently well maintained. Recommended.
