Description: Every night, drinks flow generously as our kitchen serves up fresh, pub-style cooking. The menu: soulful staples, original cocktails and friendly service in a classic tavern setting. The space, originally a 19th-century warehouse, preserves much of its old-school furnishings but with a few novel kicks. And come summer, we welcome the warm weather with our big terrace on rue de la Commune.

“Disappointment!”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Our hotel made reservations for the terrace restaurant so that we could watch the fireworks. There was a $25 cover charge for each person. My husband and I went with high expectations. The menu was quite limited and only tapas choices. The service of our waitress was the worst we have ever experienced. We sat for 20 minutes with a drink menu in front of us. Another couple was then seated next to us. It was after she took their order that we asked her if we could order drinks. Then about 15 minutes later, we had to ask the hostess for food menus. Again, after much time had passed we had to wave the waitress down to ask if we could order. She was inattentive to us for the 2+ hours that we were there. Our dinner, that consisted of a small salad, two finger size lobster rolls and a petite-sized beef tartare, along with one glass of sangria, two glasses of beer and a mixed drink cost $153 with the cover charge.
I would have eaten dinner at one of the other wonderful restaurants that we ate at during our stay in Montreal and watched the fireworks from the bridge if I had known the night would be so disappointing.

“Nice place for a break”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

My wife and I stopped here with our daughter and her son for a late afternoon break. We had local beer and a nice cheese platter. The service was attentive.

This is a nice place with a good offerings. Try the steak frites (huge order of frites) or the burger. Good offering of beer and wine. Very friendly staff. It's a solid place to go.

“Cute and relaxing place.”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We ended up in this 'taverne' after walking around in the Old Montreal in search of a neat restaurant. The menu appealed to us. We had their local beer and sat outside. For a nice Friday evening, this was a very pleasing experience.

Service was very attentive.

I had the mussels and fries, which were very good. My daughter had the children macaroni and cheese. It's not on the menu, but they offered it as we walked in. We shared the 'guedille au homard' appetizer, the lobster sandwich, which was excellent. It had nice lobster pieces and a good mix of mayo. I think hubby had the pork sandwich - which he didn't really comment on but licked his plate, so he must have enjoyed it. I had the beer mussels and fries. It was good - not warm enough for me, but OK. My daughter quite enjoyed her homemade mac and cheese.

A good place to try.
