The location of the hotel is great, but some of the decor looks at home in the 90's. Rooms were clean, comfortable and functional. Breakfast was fine, but not enough room when it got busy, plus a strange culture of kids coming to breakfast in their pyjamas! Also everything at breakfast was disposable, so not very environmentally friendly or nice. The staff were really friendly and helpful, as were most people in this interesting city.

Depressing hotel. My so called Suite was simply a room divided up with partial walls making each space too small to enjoy. Even though the room-carpet was "high hide" it was visibly dirty. that in my opinion is unacceptable. The bathroom was clean but extremely basic and the sink area was tiny.

The air conditioner/heater/fan was literally a foot away from one side of the bed. It could not set it to a comfortable temperature. The fan on the unit blew hard enough to keep the curtains flapping 24/7. I could not see a setting to turn it off. I'm glad it was business trip and I was alone, so nobody had to sleep beside it. The wall paper in the room was slightly peeling. Seems like an easy fix, apply a little glue and voila... so why would the hotel ignore that.

The bed linens were thin and basic.

The Valet service was strange. You were required to drive you car into the garage then the valet staff took the car deeper into the parking lot. The valet staff were very friendly, no complaint with them, it's just a very strange valet service.

The front desk staff and breakfast room staff were also extremely friendly, no complaint there. Maid service was also good. The dirty carpet speaks to a bigger problem.

There are a lot of nicer places to stay in Old Montreal. I would not stay here again.

Dear GMB3058,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your visit with us. We are very sorry to hear that it was unsatisfactory. At the SpringHill Suites Old Montreal, it is our goal to exceed Marriott cleanliness standards and we apologize for not doing so during your stay. Please rest assured that our carpets are cleaned on a regular basis. Maintenance has been advised of the peeling wallpaper, and the AC is easily regulated by following the instructions on the small card affixed to the unit, as we do understand that the fan noise can be disturbing. Our bed linens are all being upgraded as of July 2013 in order to comply with the new brand standards.

As the valet is a third party operator, we do not have control over their parking protocol, but as we are a smaller street, the goal is to be able to easily accommodate as many arrivals as possible.

We are pleased however that you found our service to be friendly. Our mission is to exceed guest expectations on a daily basis.

Thank you for helping us to improve our hotel!

Best regards,

Ilona Andrassy
General Manager

we only need a room for one night. Stayed in a Springhill suties before. This lives up to Marriott standards. Happy with the room. Great location to walk and go to restaurants and stores. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful..

Rooms are nice and big, clean and well laid out. Had the King studio and it was great.Stayed here with my family a couple years ago during summer vacation and had a great time - great location. Back for business and stayed here as client was nearby. Hotel is still very nice and the restaurant won't disappoint.

Stayed 3 nights Feb 16-19 2013 with my wife and 2yr old.

Check in was smooth and easy. Staff is wonderfull. Room was large and had a kitchen sink, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Perfect for set up for us. 2 queens, pull-out couch, large desk.

The location is wonderful. Right at Rue St Paul and the Old Port. Lots of restaurants and shopping within minutes. Only 3 minute walk to Chinatown and dozens more restaurants. Couple minutes walk to Eglise Notre-Dame as well. Subway Palais des Congres is only a few mins walk. We loved the location.

The carpets need changing, the bathroom fixtures are dated but everything was very clean and functional. The beds were very comfy.

Our biggest surprise was the included free breakfast. Waffle makers, eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast, bagels, pastried, fruit, cereal, yogurts, juices, coffee etc. Quite a nice spread. e The only problem were weekend breakfast times were overcrowded and the area doesn't have near enough seating. Going back to the room to eat worked out well. That was compounded by rude/ignorant people just sitting there at a table for 4 playing games on their phones or reading the paper while people stood to eat.

We slept very well, the area is quiet and the staff is wonderful. Certainly would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it.

Just finished my stay at this hotel and never having been to Montreal before I can't believe how lucky I got with the location of this hotel. It is nestled perfectly in Old Montreal. Once there, I never needed my car again. We got around by foot for the weekend, so much to see and do in walking distance. The hotel itself was very pleasant. The room was clean and very spacious. It had absolutely no view but that was to expected becasue of the location. The room was also actually quite quiet as my room was right next to the elevator and I never heard anything once in there. The breakfast in the morning was very good, lots to choose from. The parking valet guys were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Marriot in Old Montreal for a 3-day girls' trip. None of us had been to Montreal and picked this hotel after hearing recommendations. In hindsight, we should have booked directly through Mariott to avoid some of the hidden charges we incurred but otherwise we had a great time! Free breakfast of eggs, waffles, yogurts, pastries, fruits, coffee, and juice was served daily. The pool was undergoing maintenance while we were there so we weren't able to use it. The hotel itself was within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and the Notre Dame Basilica. We regretfully took a short trip to downtown Montreal and came running back to the beautiful old town. We can't wait to go back in warmer weather (we went in Feb!). Due to the "low season' some shops were closed or closed early but there were still many open.

Room Tip: Our room was streetside and faced a building that seems to hold boths classes and court hearings...
