Right in the heart of Old Montreal, the location of this hotel can not be beat!! You're walking distance from the port, Place Jean-Cartier and it's bustling arts and restaurant scene, and the famous Basilique Notre Dame. The lobby is lovely and remodeled, but while the rooms are large and quite comfortable, they are a bit dated. The hotel also has an on-site parking garage which is very handy if you're renting a car and would like to avoid the pitfalls of finding your own parking in "Old Montreal".

We did a same day booking while travelling -- picked the Marriott on reputation and were not disappointed. The hotel gave us an upgrade on check in -- all rooms are suites and we had a larger corner room which included a hot breakfast each morning. Staff were very helpful with sightseeing and suggestions for dinners. The hotel in pretty much right in the centre of old Montreal with everything within easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger and some rooms on 5th floor have patios

A nice, clean hotel, very conveniently located in old Montreal. The staff is courteous and helpful. The decor in the rooms is nice, even if it won't win any awards. Our rooms were pleasantly large (we had booked the "larger" rooms) Beds are reasonably comfortable.

Noise

Be careful: if you are a light sleeper, the various noises buildings make (ventilation, etc.) may disturb you on the side facing St. Jean-Baptiste. You will also hear any revelry from the streets, which - depending on when you stay - can come at all times of the night. We asked to change rooms after the first night, and they gave us a very nice room on the opposite side of the building - which was very accommodating. The walls are what they are in many hotels, so expect to hear your neighbors' bathroom fans, etc.

Breakfast

The breakfast was ok, but the small area set out for breakfast cannot accommodate all the people that go there. There is insufficient seating, lines for items (weekend), and items are frequently missing while staff get more. Perhaps getting to breakfast early would have helped.

Room Tip: If you want to try to avoid various building-related noises (fans, etc.) we had some luck on the side away from the street.

Marriott SpringHill Suites Old Montreal located in the Heart of Old Town of Montreal, the hotel is a bit difficult to find, only a very small sign on the street.
Location is great, only 2 blocks away from Norte Dome.

You can't find a better located hotel. Nestled a couple blocks from Cartier Square, Notre Dame, The Queys, Pointe-a-callier, we walked everywhere and never left Old Town. Just 10 steps and you have every gastronomic choice available to you, along with shopping, galleries and just a great walk. The room was not as great as I expected. It was a normal sized hotel room with a 1/4 wall to dilineate a sitting area. It's likely because we stayed free on Marriott points, which is all the more disappointing.

All in all, staff was great and I'd only stay here if I return to Montreal.
