“A Great Place to Stay”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

The Springhill Suites in Montreal was a wonderful experience. The room was quite spacious and had two televisions. The breakfast was plentiful and the décor of the hotel was modern and up-to-date. The front desk staff at this hotel was exceptional! I appreciated their willingness to help us either with a dinner recommendation or directions to the metra . The hotel is located fairly close to the metra and within walking distance to the ports. This is a great place to stay in Montreal!

The hotel has a great location near the old Montreal, just one block from restaurants and few blocks from the Notre Dame Cathedral. The staff at the hotel was rude. The hotel is clean, but it is starting to show its age. There is a $25CAD fee for parking your car. The hotel is expensive for what it offers, but location has its price. The breakfast is served on what it looks an improvised area, where there is not enough space for the guests to seat down, too crowded for an average offering.

I recently have spent two weekends in Montreal at the Springhill Suites in Old Montreal. I was very happy on both occasions. The first weekend we booked our room through a "jaunt coupon get away". We had a super large suite (room 325). This room is the largest on the floor and was a very comfortable room. The second trip we had what was termed as a larger suite, but really was not much larger than the others I was travelling with who had a regular suite.

The rooms had a comfortable King Bed and a bar sized fridgeand microwave. There was a desk and chair and ample closet space. The bathroom was a good size, as was the wet bar area.

The best thing about this hotel is that is is only 100 metres from the heart of old Montreal. You can dine at some of the best restaurants in the area and only have a few feet to walk. If you want to shop on St Catherine's street you can easily walk there in about 15 minutes. You have a short 5-7 minute walk to the metro to access anywhere in the city.

Parking was attached to the hotel and was valet only. We parked a larger SUV easily, so if you have a large vehicle it is no worries. Which we have found to be difficult in other areas. The cost for parking was $21 per day with in and out access at no extra cost. We parked and walked so there was no need for the vehicle at all.

There is a small swimming pool and a hot tub in the hotel on the first floor. The pool was very small and very cold but after walking all day in the heat it felt good to cool off. The hot tub can fit about 5 people maximum . I have seen bath tubs larger in other hotels! This area of the hotel is in need of a spruce up.

There is a small gym with 2-3 treadmills, and 1-2 other machines and a some free weights. We did not use this area at all as our feet were so tired from walking all day!

There is a great daily breakfast included in your room cost. Each day there was a selection of hot foods and cold foods. Sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, beans and other selections were available. There was a great selection of cereals, breads, bagels, muffins, and fruit. It was nice there was yogurt, hot cereal, and cottage cheese also. You would never leave hungry. Everyone's favourite was the make your own waffles! This made breakfast extra special as they had both the regular waffle maker but a mini one that makes 4 mini waffles at one time! The kids loved it.

On one trip we did go to the Spa. We had it included in our "jaunt coupon" . I had a massage for an hour. I was happy with the massage, but they never offered me a receipt for my insurance, after telling me it was a registered massage therapist. My travelling partner had a pedicure and she said it was the best one she ever got. The pedicure took over 2 hours and she said she got the best leg massage of her life. Her polish is still beautiful 4 weeks later.

I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were clean, tidy and very simple. You are in the heart of the night life, action, shopping and festivals.

The staff were very accommodating and helpful at all times.

Room Tip: If you are needing a roll away cot or need extra room ask for room 325 as it is so large there is en...

I stayed here for 2 nights in July with my family of 6. Very spacious rooms, each with 2 double beds and a fold out couch. They were adjoining - which was great. The rooms were spotless, the staff friendly, the FREE breakfast awesome, but massively crowded. The hotel has a very small pool as well as a whirlpool and a small workout room. Although the entrance to the hotel is awkward, there is onsite valet parking - 26.00, and you are steps away from all of the action in Old Montreal. While there is no concierge at this hotel - the front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We walked to the newer part of the city to watch the International jazz festival. I felt safe doing so - but beware, there are an abundance of strip clubs and the like in downtown Montreal. Chinatown is not far (very small but quite lively)- the old port just a few blocks. This hotel was a value for the spacious rooms, free breakfast, friendly staff and cleanliness. There is no view, however, so dont expect one. All in all I would stay here again. If youd like a great (but pricey) meal - try Das Emmes in the Old Port - fabulous!

I recently stayed at the Springhill Suites in Old Montreal prior to embarking on a cruise. It was the perfect location for both exploring beautiful Old Montreal and for its close proximity to the port where our ship was leaving. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly, and I loved the fact that I was within very short walking distance to so many restaurants, stores and sights - literally just around the corner! Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the city, I can't think of a better place to stay. Why only 4 stars? I travel fairly frequently and I think it was a litte pricey given that the rooms are pretty standard. However, with that said, were I to travel to Old Montreal again, I would definitely stay there. The location alone is worth the extra expense.

The hotel rooms are spacious, but the most impressive aspect is the location. You turn left out of the hotel and walk less than 30 seconds before you find yourself in the heart of Old Montreal.
