We found out about this place through Groupon. We had bought the 2 seater option, however when we got there they were out of these models. Instead they gave us the option to get individual scooters. This was not a problem as they were so much fun to ride, probably more so than it would have been with a 2 seater. We had no problem getting the hang of driving them. It was like riding a bike, but more comfortable!

We rented them for 2 hours and were able to see a lot. Before leaving we were given excellent instruction on operating them thanks to the wonderful owners and staff. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall this was a wonderful experience! I will tell my friends about this and will definitely do it again if in Montreal. It was a highlight of our weekend!

We only had 3 days in Montreal, and while the Bixi share bikes are great, there's a limit to how far you can go in 30 mins on a one-size-fits-all 3 speed bicycle.

So we were delighted to discover the very friendly folks at Dyad Cycles (4142 St.Laurent Blvd, Montreal). They rent out these groovy little electric scooters that allow you to explore the outer reaches of the broad central city area without raising a sweat.

Within 15 mins of entering the shop we were on our bikes and zipping around town. They provide the bikes, keys, helmets, chain lock and recharger (just in case you stray a little too far and need to juice up before you head back).

The scooters themselves are speed limited to 32kph (which I think allows them to be classified the same as a non-powered bike - so you can ride them in dedicated bicycle lanes as long as you're courteous to your human powered brothers and sisters).

Being electric they're also a little sluggish going up hills. However there are manual pedals that you can use for some extra boost up steeper inclines.

But everywhere else, these scooters are zippy, fun little machines. They allowed us to see a whole lot more of Montreal than we thought would be possible in our short stay.

And not too expensive. We hired 2 bikes for the whole day for $110. However, as one had a few minor mechanical issues the staff replaced it without question and also gave us a discount. Fantastic, worry-free service backing up a great product! Thank you guys.

We only wish we'd discovered Dyad Cycles on our first day in Montreal instead of our last...

This was such an awesome tour! We got to see a large amount of Montreal as well as learn. After doing all the walking tours it was also incredibly nice to ride the electric scooters and get a feel of how the people ride around in Montreal. The tour guide was wonderful too! Dyad's staff give a lesson for those who have never ridden before and take you to different local areas that are amazing to experience. It is certainly a tour worth taking! Looking at Metrodetroitben review's about the speed, it worth mentioning that the scooters are speed limited for a reason; you don't need a driver license or plate and can even ride in the cycle lanes. This is a HUGE plus as it makes them a convenient and easy way to discover a place.

We got a groupon for Dyad a few weeks before heading out to Montreal for a 2 seater scooter for 2 hours. I called the day before we planned to rent the scooters and they were exceptionally friendly over the phone. My wife and I arrived on a Friday afternoon and met David, Joelle and another gentleman inside the store. Friendly, helpful and welcoming are just a few of the things I can say about them. They informed me that the 2 seaters were not performing as they would hope so they gave us two individual units at the same cost. Great customer service. The scooters were easy to operate and fun to ride. Even my wife who is very uneasy on a bicycle enjoyed driving her own. My only critique would be the power of the scooters themselves. Neither of the units we had would go over 25-30 Km/hr. It would have been nice if they could keep up with the traffic on the main streets. Overall we had a great time and Joelle gave us awesome suggestions on places to go and neighborhoods to check out. Don't miss this fun little excursion.

We rented 2 electric scooters from DYAD downtown Montreal on St Laurent and Rachel. The owners are lovely and very friendly and helpful. The scooter rentals were a great price $55 for 24 hours. We used them from 11am-8pm and went to Marche jean Talon (great market), Mont Royal and Old Montreal. A must do! You don t need a driver`s license for the scooter and DYAD also offer city tours. Montreal is a great city to visit and safe. Will go back soon.
