Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

Time seems frozen in this smart eatery In the heart of downtown Montreal. The decor (which appears authentic and/or well restored) recalls the heydays of Montreal Taverne culture. Seating is at a long bar, banquettes or small tables. The menu is a mix of French Bistro and English Pub with a suitable drinks list. I have eaten there twice now and my experiences were similar: a great place to drink but only so-so food. The place is lively and when entering one gets the sense that a good time will be had. Service is attentive, prices are slightly elevated, and if you are going to eat, stick to the best-sellers such as the mussels, or the braised beef. Stay away from the bone marrow.

On a business trip recently to Montreal, decided to try Taverne Square which was walking distance from the hotel. The restaurant has a very nice bar to have a drink or eat as well. The food was excellent. Best mussels I've had in a long time, maybe ever. My colleague had the steak and also was very pleased. In fact, we liked the restaurant so much, we returned the next day even though we had made reservations somewhere else. It's a bit loud and got more crowded as the week went on but the staff worked hard to accommodate us. Also, the prices were very fair. I can't think of any reason someone might have a negative thing to say about the place. Highly recommend for drinks, dinner or both.

This restaurant is so beautiful inside. It has created a old style European bistro with waiters in white aprons, big chandeliers , marble bar a white tiled walls. The food is delicious the service great . I recommend the mussels in cider and bacon and the home made donuts are to die for. Have a cocktail first, perfectly prepared. We had an Old Fashioned perfect and a delicious chilled glass of Prosecco.

Great pre-habs game location just a few blocks from Bell Centre.

The food was excellent - we had the mussels cooked in broth of cider and bacon ($22, worth every penny). The corn fritters with home made ketchup were on the bland side, but fair portion for $9. Finally, the sticky toffee pudding was a bit more well done than traditionally served, but came with a really refreshing scoop of coffee flavored ice cream, so overall great!

The wine list was extensive, but we kept to the cocktails and beer/cider. The drinks prices were on the high side, but tasted great, used premium ingredients and came quickly!

When you have the option of tourist traps such as 3 Brassuers or chains like Keg and Baton Rouge around downtown, it's definitely a welcome change to find yourself here at Taverne Square Dominion where the decor was interesting and authentic (check out the quirkly scale on the way to the bathrooms), menu offered a range of classics as well as new twists, and the staff were incredibly attentive.
