Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

“Right off the train”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

Whenever I travel to Montreal (usually by VIA Rail), I head straight to Dominion for a good meal. Really good meal.

I absolutely love the ambiance of this place. Love that they kept the old school feel from the little things like the lighting, bar, and uniforms of the bartenders and waitstaff.

The service has always been really good which is bonus.

At this point I have almost tried everything on their menu. But my "go-to" favourites are the corn fritters, mussels (generous amount), beet salad and beef striploin.

Just recently I've been enjoying their desserts (only because I would be so stuffed from the entre!).

Their sticky toffee pudding, nutmeg donuts and most recently their pecan tartlet with green apple sorbet has coming back for more.

I love Montreal for their food scene. Living/working in Toronto where more and more big box restaurants are opening up, I feel the small independent and mom & pop places are slowly dwindling. Montreal, still has it. Delicious food, good service and I love that you aren't pushed out by having the bill put infront of you as soon as you order dessert.

If anyone knows a resto in Toronto that has a menu like this please msg me!

“Great atmosphere, great service, great food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

Perfect place for a casual drink with friends or colleagues in downtown Montreal. The atmosphere is great, the decor is nicely put. The service is beyond reproach. If I often go for a drink during the late evening, you can eat quality food and chose from a good selection of wines.

I was amazed with the braised beef!

I recommend it x 10 !

“Atmosphere and solid meals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

I like to go for lunches because it's close to my office, with their lunch menu offering fish and chips on Fridays and fresh fish on Tuesdays. The place simply looks fantastic. You feel you have been transported in an old tavern and, well, you have. The food is not light so it's perfect on winter. If you're looking for something lighter on the menu, it will have to be the Fisherman Ploughman's. Then, you can indulge and eat the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Decadent! And if you like gin and tonic, you have to try it there because they have their own house tonic.

“A great place in downtown Montreal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

The first time we went, it was packed, but we sat at the end of the counter, and it was perfect. I usually have the grilled chicken salad, but you have to wait a bit, since the chicken is not previously roasted. But it's worth the wait. The pulled pork sandwich is another favourite, it just melts in your mouth! The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly. It's better to make reservations.
