Whenever I travel to Montreal (usually by VIA Rail), I head straight to Dominion for a good meal. Really good meal.
I absolutely love the ambiance of this place. Love that they kept the old school feel from the little things like the lighting, bar, and uniforms of the bartenders and waitstaff.
The service has always been really good which is bonus.
At this point I have almost tried everything on their menu. But my "go-to" favourites are the corn fritters, mussels (generous amount), beet salad and beef striploin.
Just recently I've been enjoying their desserts (only because I would be so stuffed from the entre!).
Their sticky toffee pudding, nutmeg donuts and most recently their pecan tartlet with green apple sorbet has coming back for more.
I love Montreal for their food scene. Living/working in Toronto where more and more big box restaurants are opening up, I feel the small independent and mom & pop places are slowly dwindling. Montreal, still has it. Delicious food, good service and I love that you aren't pushed out by having the bill put infront of you as soon as you order dessert.
If anyone knows a resto in Toronto that has a menu like this please msg me!
