Spent three nights at the Queen Elizabeth on the 19th floor (Gold rooms) and can't say enough on how wonderful it was. Private elevator with windows to watch the city on your way up to extraordinary service. Guests on that floor have their own consierge to take care of any questions or needs you may have - received a warm welcome and a tour of the private lounge that is open from 6:30 am to 11 pm - lovely breakfast in the morning, appetizers from 5-7 pm and desserts from 7:30 on - coffee and tea always ready and a supply of juice, pop and water always cold and waiting. Our room was large, lovely and with a great view towards the water.
The bar/lounge in the main lobby is terrific - Paulo makes a great manhattan, had to have a couple just to make sure!! The piano entertainment in the evening was also a wonderful way to unwind with a cocktail. Great location to walk, shop and eat.

I stayed at the Queen Elizabeth on a business trip recently. I did not know anything about the hotel before checking in. The hotel is huge, something like 1200 rooms. However, you definitely do not feel overwhelmed. The service is very good and the elevators super fast. In fact, while it is clear the hotel is fairly old, the maintenance has been kept up and it doesn't feel dated. I used the gym which is totally adequate though not cutting edge. We also ate a number of meals at the restaurant which is also very nice though not cheap. All in all, I would definitely recommend the hotel for business or vacation. If the later, just make sure you like the location as it is about 25 minute walk to Old Montreal if you care.

The Fairmont's location (attached to the train station) and its exterior architecture (late 1950s brutalism) mask a comfy interior, clean rooms and pleasant staff. The QE's other plusses are its downtown location -- if one wants to be downtown -- and its easy connections to Montreal's underground passageways. My son and I were visting McGill University, and the QE was a good starting point. Our room was quiet, and both of us slept well. But if you're on the south side of the building, don't expect a great view. Our package also did not include free parking (which is controlled by valets) or free internet/wi-fi connections. The former is a nuisance but the latter is downright unthinkable these days. One also should choose carefully when wandering nearby. Early Saturday morning my 18-year-old son and I ventured northwest of the hotel to find breakfast. A fashionable, "hip" shopping district quickly transitions to adult stores. (Numerous wry comments come to mind, but I'll just leave it at that.)

I stayed 3 nights for the first time at this Fairmont Hotel. Thankfully, I had really good sleeps, which is very important. However, I was worried when I could hear my neighbours on each side so clearly when they first arrived or were talking on the phone. The walls are thin, for sure. The window opens so one can get fresh air and the heating/cooling system works well. The room was showing its age with a cracked bathroom sink and an elderly bar frig so packed with their expensive goods for sale that it is difficult to put anything of your own in there. The location is great and the staff were very helpful. Reception let me check in early for which I was very appreciative. The swimming pool is small but gives a good workout on a cold, rainy day.

This was a real treat for us - probably the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Staff is professional and amazingly good at their jobs. Seamless communication with all departments makes every decision so simple. It is expensive - BUT - our car was parked for us - and delivered to a convenient, easy to get to spot under the hotel. This was a real advantage as I have mobility issues and had not a simgle moment of worrying about navigating the hotel. The turn down service was unexpected and housekeeping staff did so many little things flawlessly.....we were grateful to be so kindly fussed over. The VERY BEST part of the hotel: the BED!! We had a king and never slept better in our lives. The boutique was a blast - the location (center city) excellent. There was no view to speak of but, because we required handicapped accommodations, we were necessarily placed on a low floor so that was a small compromise. All in all, the QE is a lovely choice for people with no budget restrictions.

We stayed for a weekend getaway. The room was nice and the hotel staff were very pleasing. We had a queen room and that was fine for the weekend, the bed was really comfortable ( my husband said I slept like a log) We took the via from Toronto and the hotel is above the train tunnel so we did not have to walk outside at all. There are many shops that are part of the underground and again you do not have to go outside unless you want to see St. Catharine's street which is another location filled with shops and restaurants.

This was a fun hotel to go to. Everything was clean and comfy. The location was great.
We ended up having a friend come back to the hotel with us and they gave us a cot for him to sleep on. Very friendly service. Great valet service too!
The only complaint is that you can smell the chlorine from the pool near the reception.

Would definitely go back!
