“Excellent business location and good hotel.”

This is a large hotel so don't expect intimate service. As a Fairmont member (Presidents club) guests get free WiFi. The hotel bar is solid and the rooms are good. parts of the hotel are showing their age. I will return.

I have talked about how great this hotel experience was since I was there October 9-14. I was there for our work annual conference so I experienced many facets of the hotel's operations and everything was stellar. The staff was friendly, helpful, courteous and went out their way to help you out. The food was delicious, presentation was top notch and service was timely and efficient. I would stay here again and again (and they're not paying me to say this!). I have stayed in many Fairmonts and this was one of the best experiences by far.
As for the outdated rooms people have talked about, they have 1000 rooms in the hotel and they are slowly renovating them but it can't happen overnight. I stayed on floor 6 which had been renovated but the rooms that are considered a bit outdated, are actually bigger.

Room Tip: The rooms on higher floors have nice views of the city

Just back from four nights at the QE with the Mrs. Small glitch with parking on arrival, as there seemed to be two or three large events going on simultaneously. Bellman originally told us valet was full, sent us to the parking garage. Went to the garage, was told they're full. Returned to the front door, explained to same bellman our predicament. He apologized, excused himself, and was back a minute later to tell us he'll find us a spot. Took our bags, took the car, and sent us on our way.
Only one peson ahead of us at Presidents Club registration on Saturday evening, so only a negligible wait. By that point, we were happy to be standing after a 6 & a half hour drive, anyway!
Got upgraded to a King View room, and it was exactly as that name implies. Good sized room, with a great view across the Place Ville Marie courtyard up to McGill and the eastern edge of Mount Royal behind it. Bathroom was smallish, as many have noted here, but big enough to leave our toiletries and conduct our business.
First night's dinner was Beaver Club. I'll submit a seperate detailed review, but it was beyond fabulous! And the prices were surprisingly reasonable - I've spent much more for much lower quality food and much poorer service. In all, a grown-up restaurant, with old-fashioned grownup food, with professional, warm, efficient, classic service.
Had dinner a couple nights at Les Voyageurs, the bar adjacent to the Beaver Club, and, while the venue's a little more relaxed, the service was equally professional (except for the gentleman who seemed to forget, about three times, that we had asked for the check. No biggie - Just gave us more time to sit and chat and people-watch).
Many have noted the convenience of having Le Garre Centrale right downstairs. This is great even if you're not traveling by train, due to all the great food options down there. I guess you could call it a food court, but a really nice one. We took advantage of the presence in the station of one of our favorite Montreal establishments, Premiere Moisson (much better coffee than Tim Horton's - In fact, three seperate roasting strengths to choose from!) as often as we could.
Back to the hotel - You're not likely to be wowed by the room furnishing and decor, but they're attractive and well maintained. Certainly a step up from similarly-priced establishments (We got a great deal, by the way - About $170/night). The public areas felt very "Fairmont" to us, which is to say luxurious but not trendy or gimmicky. Loved that we could still pick out the retro design aspects from when the hotel was built (60's?) - Gave the QE a real sense of place, we thought. The lounge and shopping areas in the lobby reminded us very much of the Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda: That is to say, posh but comfortable, maybe a little behind the times, but lovingly decorated and maintained. Great place to spend a few hours catching up on your reading on a rainy morning.
The people at the hotel were what's most memorable, though. From the aforementioned bellman who found a solution when he had to, to the very welcoming check-in personnel, to the smiling, warm concierges who had an answer for every question we had (and were more than happy to check our emlployer's home page for us for Hurricane Sandy-related work info so we wouldn't have to pony up for international data charges on our phones), to every last doorman who would rush to not only grab the door but greet us with a smiling "bon jour", to the ladies in the shop with the sweets and sundries who were genuinely concerned about our home back in Sandy's path and about our drive home when the effects were predicted to hit our route, (Now I'm going to sound like a Fairmont advertisement - Sorry!), it truly was the people of the QE who turned moments into memories for us.
Almost forgot - I mentioned the location in the title of this, huh? Short walk to all the great shopping - Le Baie, Holt's, and, the best, Oglivy! Easy walk to Old Montreal, five minutes up hill to McGill, don't even have to go ouside for the Place Ville Marie mall, etc. Also five minute walk to the House of Jazz, ten minutes another direction for Upstairs Jazz Club. Couldn't be a more convenient place to stay to immerse yourself in downtown Montreal!
Will we be back? Do you have to ask?
To everyone at the QE - Merci, votre amis nouveaus!!!!!!

Stayed one night at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. Hotel looks very grand when we walked in. Rooms are a little on the small side. The view was great from our room since it overlooked the cathedral. The bathroom was on the small side and needed to be updated. Our sink was cracked and looked worn out. The location of the hotel is ideal for anyone who wants to be in downtown Montreal.

Our stay was good since we were right in downtown Montreal where we needed to be.

We stayed at the Reine Elizabeth for a two-night stay in Montreal. Staff was very friendly and helpful, common areas were well-kept and clean, and the location could not have been better. We took the VIA (train) and the location right about the Garre Central was the ultimate in convenience. There are plenty of food court establishments in the underground, so getting a quick bite to eat is very easy. Expect to pay usual Fairmont prices for room services and extras, but the location makes the extra cost worth it.
Our one disappointment, and it did not seriously affect our overall experience, was the size and condition of our lower-rate single queen room. The room was certainly functional, but paint in the bathroom was peeling, decor was generally worn (althought not terribly out-dated) and there was no in-room safe.
Again, an overall good experience and we would stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at the Fairmont, arriving on a Wednesday, leaving early on Saturday. The location of the hotel is superb! In the middle of what most visitors will probably want to see in Montreal and very safe. Sitting on top of the railway station makes many eateries and stores easily accessible without going outside. I was in room 854, which while comfortable, was very small, and the bathroom was even smaller. Staff was exceptionally accommodating, from walking me to where I needed to go to responding very timely to an inquiry I had about online rates. The workout room is large, but much of the equipment is dated, and only two pieces of the cardio equipment have built in TVs, which is not good if you are looking to watch a specific show/game while working out. If you are arriving at night, by train and want easy access to your hotel, there is no better place to stay! I took the bus (flat rate of 8$ - in change ONLY) to the airport when I departed. This was also very convenient, as the stop was directly across the street from the hotel, but it is outside and could be very cold in the winter!

Room Tip: If there is more than one person traveling, you do not want room 854, or a similar size - the room a...

We had a wonderful stay in a suite at the Queen Elizabeth.

We didnt hold a bed-in like John and Yoko ... but we did enjoy the large comfortable & well equipped suite.

The complimentary bottles of water and truffles were a wonderful welcoming surprise. The front desk staff were quick, pleasant, and knowledgable,

The concierge guided us through several dining options meeting our criteria (walking distance, cuisine, and experience) She got us reservations for "as soon as you can get there" and her description of the restaurant and food was 100% accurate.

The Fairmont's lobby is large with lots of great people watching seating. The only downside (and its not a big one) is that as a very large prominent hotel - the lobby can be very busy with conference guests. Even so it's not uncomfortably crowded and there are few delays.

Fairmont hotels in Canada do not disappoint!

Room Tip: Corner suites easily accommodate a 3rd/4th adult
