I haven't stayed in many hotels--even big, multi-amenity hotels, that were run this smoothly and that had a staff as helpful as this one was during my stay. The hotel is huge (36 floors, with three floors of conference rooms, multiple shops and restaurant options), but the concierge desk was always staffed (often with several employees), the front desk employees were always helpful (and all were multilingual), and the services all ran smoothly. The hotel even had a self-service (and free) computer at the bellhop desk for printing boarding passes.

Features: an upscale restaurant, and around the back, past several shops, were a small, deli counter and a diner-like cafeteria; a medium-sized, but elegant front lobby, with lots of seating spaces; great views through huge curved windows, clean and well-stocked rooms, comfortable beds, and a great central downtown location only blocks from the Eaton Center, train station, and hockey stadium; and the Bonaventure metro (subway) stop is accessible from inside the hotel, as is the underground city (the interconnected underground mall that runs throughout downtown). Another plus: the bus stop for the $7.00 airport express bus (route 747) is only a long block north of the hotel, between the two parks In short, you couldn't want a better location.

Parking was $20 Canadian for self-park / $25 for valet. Wireless internet. No pets. Nice pool and fitness center.

We found everything especially good at this hotel. It is a rather old hotel but is well-kept and handy to most everything. It is moderately priced for any one leaving Montral on a cruise.

Starts off promising with an elegant lobby and courteous staff upon check-in. The room, however, was early-90's motel bland. Chipped desk and table, uncomfortable chairs not good for either working or relaxing. Ancient CRT TV hidden in armoire, not comfortably viewed from any position. Heating/ventilation loud and rattling.

However -- very quiet apart from the rattly heating, bed quite comfortable. Free wifi is nice, but very slow.

Had two meals, one from room service and one in restaurant. Both terrible. "Alberta filet of beef", $38 -- sad, singed piece of meat accompanied by cool-ish French fries and canned gravy in a little bowl. Roast beef sandwich next day -- fatty prime-rib leftovers on a baguette, again with canned gravy and french fries. Sent it back.

Can't recommend this hotel. Great location, pleasant staff, but you can do much better in Montreal for the money.

This is a major hotel in downtown Montreal, so the location was great and the building is old and charming. However, Internet did not work in the room (signal was weak) & technicians could not fix it. They added the cost of a modem to the bill and it took me a while to convince them that I was never given a modem. Asked concierge for directions, but the old guy mumbled a few brief words and carried on his chatting with a friend.
The spa area was so loud. I had a massage and people were chatting right outside the door with lots of kids running around. Will not stay there again if I am ever back in Montreal.

This was a great location and a great City. We could walk to Old Montreal or take the metro if we wanted. Centrally located for all attractions in Montreal. The view from the room was beautiful and the Hotel itself, restaurant, lobby and bar were all excellent. We will definitely stay here again.
