“Enjoyed our 1 night stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Drove from NYC on way to Quebec City. Stopped here for 1 night. It was welcoming after a long drive to check in to a nice clean room. Didn't spend much time in room or hotel as we wanted to explore the city. From the front desk area, walk out to the mall area, it is connected to the underground city and you can exit to street behind the hotel. Make a left and walk a few blocks and you are in the plaza of the Notre Dame Basilica, which is a must see. take the light show tour in the evening, it is worth the 10.00 a ticket. We also parked behind the Hotel at $16.00 a day. No wi-fi in the room which is a dissappointment but again, we were not in room much. We had breakfast at "eggspectation" it was really good and resonable. It is on the same street as the Notre Dame, about a few blocks up, you will pass souvenier shops. Tim Horton's is on the same street.

Perfect location between Old Town & Shopping on St. Catherine's! Great cafe's and fabulous restaurants also with in blocks from your front door. Also, the metro is only half a block away as well! Rooms were very comfortable and clean and the customer service was very good as well. Just keep in mind it is a Five Star so the buffet breakfast is almost $30 as well as the overall dining is expensive, however, the food was really good!

We always enjoy the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth when in Montreal (we visit often), but for no specific reason we decided to try something different. Since we have enjoyed InterContinental hotels in other cities/countries, we picked the InterCon Montreal. It was a very good choice in every way: location, service at front desk and restaurant, bellmen, rooms. Other reviewers have given the InterCon five stars, so no need for me to add details. Their reviews are spot on!

We arrived on a rainy night hungry after a long drive and asked the concierge, Gerry about places to eat he handed me a long list of restaurants, I tried to coax a recommendation from him since there was so many he declined and told us to go left out the front door he did not bother to offer a map, umbrella or any further directions. We actually had to go back after getting soaked with a map I found in the shopping mall and request more detailed info, it seems you have to do more than " just turn left out the door". The next day the weather cleared and we discovered what an amazing location we were in with help of another concierge. We were upgraded for a fee, the room had a beautiful view and was very clean with a big comfortable bed our brkfst was included with original booking, the buffet was OK at best. There are so many dining choices within a 10 min. or less walk. Last note regarding the concierge we also asked where we could gas up the car before returning home, he gave us directions totally out of our way sending us 20 mins away from the hotel when there was 2 other stations within a 5 minute drive. Every other staff member we encountered was wonderful and we would stay again.

We spent 2 nights at the Intercontinental in August. We got a great rate of around $150 per night on a 3rd party website. We self-parked ($25/day) and took 3 elevators to our room on the 12th floor. It was spacious for a 2 double bedroom. The view was just okay. No balcony. The bathroom was very big. There is a fridge in the room.

The hotel was very nice. It has a great location and we found we could walk easily to old port and downtown. It was 15 min walk to the Bell Centre. When it rained we took cabs. It cost around $9 from the hotel to the Bell Centre. We also enjoyed the (small) pool and outdoor lounge area. The change room was very nice. There seemed to be more business travelers and not many families.

There was easy access to coffee shops in the underground. Go to see a chunk of the Berlin Wall!

We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

I spent 2 nights on a business trip at this Montreal downtown hotel -- moved to the W subsequently ( a much better choice).

The hotel looks recent from the outside and the lobby area. The rooms are decorated in a mix of plain vanilla Marriott and old-fashioned InterConti marble & brass that used to be fashionable in the 1980s... No wow effect, although I was assigned a Tower Suite -- actually two rooms on the smaller side with an entirely useless huge hallway and a bathroom decorated with marble, tiles and faucets that must have been on sale when the hotel was constructed.

The room was a little stuffy and took several discussions with the cleaning lady, front desk and maintenance to get somebody to set the windows ajar for an hour to let some fresh air into the space poorly ventilated by the airconditioning unit.

Service in general was very nonchalant; raising the shoulders in resignation must be the gesture taught to the customer frontline staff. They should change that for vigorous nodding and one or the other speak after me - "THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS, MR. CUSTOMER" exercise. Wifi coverage in my room was virtually non-existent, so I asked for maintenance to take a look or provide a portable repeater/network extender. Platinum Ambassador front office staff answer: "on peut rien faire, but I certainly will pass on your observation."

The club is oh-kay, but more of a Westin/Marriott affair offered graciously to Gold members rather than justifying a hefty supplement.

The gym is a weird set up with restricted space both overhead and on the floor...

I think I'll pass on this hotel, next time I come to Montreal.
