“Nice hotel nice location”
Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

We came here because our cruise line put us here. It is a nice hotel as are all InterContinental hotels. Our room was small but with all expected amenities. Our room could be part of a suite, I guess, and the connecting door let in TV noises early in the morning and then noises of an argument a while later. Not sure if something could be done about that distraction. I noticed the prominently displayed $7 dollar bottle of water and it irritated but did not supprise me. Paying $15 for wifi bothered me though I have paid more elsewhere. I guess even fancy hotels need to develop additional profit centers. Public areas are attractive and restaurant/bar look nice. Patronized Osco. More on that elsewhere.

Stayed 2 nights whilst travelling around by train, found it very convenient being easy to find from the railway station and located in Old Montreal where, as a tourist, you really want to be. Modern hotel. Good size room with comfy twin queen beds and lovely bathroom with use of robe. Thought reception staff could have advised us that we needed to use the room key card to make the lifts work, we had to rely on another guest. Also charged for bottled water in room which thought was a bit mean for a 5 star hotel. Having said that overall good value booked through Canadian Affair.

We stayed at the Intercontinental on august and we had a great time. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the bed was delicious! We always had breakfast on a coffee shop right at the entrance. Try the cafe latte and drink it there, its a charming place and a nice view to the sidewalk. If we come back to Montreal I will surely stay there.

Great Brand and the hotel took a real step forward and upward after their rooms and public area renovation. We had a room with view over the island and harbour, my familiy and I did enjoy every minute in the hotel - Speciality Restaurant worth the money, bar has nice selection on tab, gym small but clean and well maintained, pool terrace overlooking the skyline. And the location can not be topped in Montreal. Thank you InterContinental, hope to stay again next year.

Room Tip: facing the harbour and high up

Overall a wonderful weekend stay ... checked in for two nights - was upgraded to a beautiful, large corner room on the 19th floor (Platinum member). First the cons - check in was a little on the subdued yet professional level but lacked a gracious welcome and the parking is way down many levels of the garage and I am tired of paying for internet even though the charge was somewhat low at $10 per night - it just seems silly when the room is over $350 per night! The $7 bottle of water bothered me ... but the room was very, very nice! Huge beautiful bathroom with tub and shower - shower need a little attention in the corners. Housekeeping was so nice and called to get us a light bulb changed right away. The bed was wonderful - great pillows and linens. The view was of the city and some rooftops but not spectacular - yet there was a postage stamp view of Parc Mont Royale - but not quite the beautiful views with the Old City, port and river I saw on the homepage.

Perfect location to Old Montreal - easy walk and Notre Dame Basilica - the stunning cathedral was just a couple of blocks away. Be sure to take the tour and see the chapel behind the main altar. Also enjoyed walking the cobblestone streets, Place Jacques Cartier and along the waterfront.

I stayed here because I'm platinum with their rewards program and usually love Intercontinental properties. I visit Montreal at least once per month but have never back. This is the only hotel in MTL I know that still charges for WiFi. I don't understand how you can charge $20+ for Internet to a business travelers who spends 50+ nights in your hotels.

In general, the hotel is fine but not up to expectations at this price and for this brand.
