Had the chance to go for a cruise off of the Vieux Port- Montreal. I was treated with the most incredible views and the water was beautiful. A great place to come at nighttime too for a chance to look at the lights :)

Definitely worth a visit!

Temperatures may have been hovering around 0 F, but this is a great place to bring in New Year's. Nowhere near as commercial as NYC or most other large cities, but ice skating, a big countdown clock and amazing fireworks were excellent.

Got there about 11:35, stayed thru the fireworks and then made it back to Hampstead by 1:15 AM. Beat that, New York!

We went for a walk down the old port quays and frankly it was so busy and loud I didn't enjoy it at all - maybe it was quite it would have been different.

Very popular place to hang out, with restaurants museums and even a great beach complete with white sand (and salsa music on Sundays). However, there is one VERY DANGEROUS spot for bikes that the management refuses to correct (next to the corner of Jacques Cartier and Rue de la Commune). They have a chain across a dirt road that runs along a very popular bike path that is all but invisible at night. I have a good light on my bike and still slammed in to the chain one night. I wrote the management and even told two police cadets on bicycles nearby who agreed and told me they had personally seen the same thing happen to other cyclists but that the Old Port told the police cadets to get lost as they are Federal Property and therefore exempt. It's just a matter of time until someone gets hurt.

Another lovely area to wander around. I wish I'd come in summer, there is a little port-side beach that I would have loved to have spent an afternoon at. Plenty to explore here, the old time clock and lots of informational plaques.
