You can't come to Montreal and not visit the port. It's located beside old Montreal and provides a glimpse to the past with the old silos, warehouses and storage facilities as Montreal was a major gateway for merchandise bound for Europe. Neat to see. Now you can occasionally catch cruise ships in the port as Montreal is first or last on a st. Lawrence river/Atlantic coast cruise.

The stroll arond the old docks of Montreal is very pleasant. It can be a must see for any Montreal visitor. The architecture especially around Place Jacque Cartier makes an excellent foreground and the scenery on the St Lawrence river on the other side is equally beautiful. You can find fairs and shows taking place from time to time. Additionally there is an artists street nearby which hosts several artists drawing portrays.

This takes you along the St. Lawrence River with wonderful views of the other side. It is a great place to walk as you can see the wonderful architecture all around and the river is very calming.

Definitely go walk around the old port any time during summer . you can spend a couple nights around there and be entertained . Theres a hill with many restaurants ,terraces . Fancy to pub style . infanct that's the whole area. you can dress nice or dress casual and it's all good . spend a day taking a boat ride then have lunch on the grass. Dinner set in a garden ( jardiniere I believe ) and then watching all the nightly entertainment . Most summers it's the same . Street performers , venders , painters , fruit stands .

Pretty basic. Like any other quays that I have been to in different parts of the world. Nothing there to attract me back or spend much time in it.
