“Cosy hotel with friendly service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2011

This hotel was recommended to me by a colleague and I was really pleased with the choice I made. The most important feature for me in a hotel room is guaranteed silence at night and this was provided at this hotel. The room was immaculately clean, the reception staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and with a cosy feel to it. It was like having breakfast at your grand mother's house with the cook walking around and replenishing your coffee cup with fresh coffee. The location was perfect in an area full of restaurants - I particularly recommend walking up the street away from the metro station to enter an area that is less touristy, but with plenty of restaurants and shops. If you want to live in a safe, cosy hotel with a friendly atmosphere come to Auberge le Jardin D'Antoine - warmly recommended!

Extremely helpful folks at the desk, and very nice breakfast, comfortable accommodations. I would definitely stay there again.

This was my fourth visit so I did not hesitate to bring my Colorado cousin and her husband to join us here while we showed them Montreal. We stayed in the budget rooms which were compact but comfortable. A great value for the money. We didn't need extra space since we were always out. The lighting was more than adequate , which is not usually the case in hotels, and there were plenty of wall outlets to charge electronic devices. Free wifi was a real plus. The breakfast was excellent with many choices and was presided over by a delightful lady who told us where to get the delicious Montreal bagels they served. (we brought home several dozen to freeze!) The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were most helpful with dining advice, directions, and where to buy different items. Anything we requested for the room arrived promptly and cheerfully. We will definitely stay at Auberge Le Jardin d'Antoine again (and again!) on our future visits to Montreal.

On a sister trip to Quebec we wanted the ambiance of a neighborhood auberge, and we quickly felt like natives at le Jardin d'Antoine. There are many dining choices on rue St.-Denis, and the location is very convenient to the Berri-UQAM metro station where you can access all of Montreal. We enjoyed exploring different parts of the city.
Front desk staff, especially Dorina, Florence, and co-owner Marc Andre, were exceptionally professional and helpful. They seemed genuinely to care that we enjoyed our visit.
Breakfast items were fresh and good quality, more than ample to start our day. Our room on the second level was comfortable and quiet with the exception of a little party noise in an adjacent parking area on a Saturday night.

I'm surprised at some of the mediocre reviews. Our one-night stay was exceptional. We had two rooms on the main floor and both were comfortable, well-apppointed, quiet and roomy with a nice bathroom and good storage. In our room, two brick walls lent a rustic and intimate-getaway feel to the charming, courtyard-syle inner city venue. The price, including breakfast was very reasonable and the on-line reservation worked well.

The location at Rue Saint Denis and Sherbrooke is excellent and it is a good walking neighbourhood. Parking is just a few minutes away and there is an unloading zone in front of the hotel too.

The staff in the afternoon and next morning could not have been more helpful with our restaurant and touring plans, and the breakfast staff was polite as well. A solid breakfast is provided downstairs and you can sit outside.

This was our second visit to this hotel and we would recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Reserve in advance

Rooms are clean, which is good. Beds not so comfortable though....and both of the windows in my room were broken! I had no choice but to use the air conditioning which I'm allergic to...I had already changed rooms once because the budget room looked so sad. Both rooms were at the end of a long hallway, much of which is outside (though covered). The hallway carpet looked dirty and gross. :( Room was clean, but dark.

One of the staff members saw that I was struggling a little with my suitcase and didn't even offer to help me carry it to my room...

Breakfast was nice, Coffee was great....location is fantastic.

Room Tip: if possible, ask to get the brick wall room...they seem nicer...you might want to call in advance fo...

If you want a B&B in the Latin Quarter, this isn't a bad choice. On the plus side, the service is very good, it's affordable and near a metro. On the minus side, the rooms have seen better days, the hallways tilt because the building has settled and the beds are a bit soft. Also certain rooms are quite dark. If that will bother you, make sure you request something with natural light. The breakfast is so-so: breads, cheese, and fruit. The hotel is surrounded by bars and restaurants and the area gets quite busy at night. I prefer something quieter but if you want to be in the hub of a vibrant area, then this might be a good choice.

Room Tip: ask for a room with natural light

Thank you for your comments, we always take into consideration our guest opinion to improve our product year after year. It is true that some rooms (4 rooms on a total of 25) have less sunlight than others because of their location in our interior courtyard.
However, we make sure that - for those 4 rooms - there are plenty of lamps ( plus the opening windows) so the rooms are as bright as possible. Following your comment, we will put additional lamps to improve the brightness of those 4 rooms.

Each winter - when the hotel is less busy - we renovate at least 2 rooms (painting, new matresses, etc...) This is also the period where we make a deep cleaning of the hotel (washing the walls, etc.)

As for the breakfast, it is much more complete than your description. You forgot to mention scrambled eggs, ham, yogourts, cereals, muffins, fresh croissants au beurre and pastries, bagels with cream cheese, beverages (juice, tea, coffee, milk, herb teas, hot chocolate). French visitors often say that our croissants are better than theirs. This is because we buy them at the best pastry shop in Québec province (Boulangerie Première Moisson). The quality and diversity of our generous buffet breakfast has in fact contributed to make the hotel's good reputation. And this generous breakfast is free of charge.

We try hard to please our customers. Our constant efforts over 22 years of existence have made the success of the auberge. We thank you for you comments.
