Albeit a little aged, the hotel is very clean, quiet, with excellent beds, sheets and towels. The mini kitchen fits in a closet and the well stocked bathroom is a little small. But the view from the rooftop pool is fantastic. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with a non-draining bath tub and it was fixed promptly.
If you are hooked on your electronic devices please note that the free Internet may only be available in the business centre; otherwise there is a daily fee for wi-fi.
If you prefer fresh air to recycled please note that the windows do not open.
We would stay there again.

four nights at the Cantlie were most enjoyable. Friendly and helpful staff made the difference as the old girl is showing a bit of wear - but everything is clean and it all works! All amenities are to hand, good food, the shampoo & conditioner and hairdryer and large comfy beds in well laid out rooms made our stay a good one - plus.. a big plus, we were right in the heart of downtown Montreal with all the fun that comes from that.

My husband and I have just arrived back from a 4 centre stay in Canada, this was our final 4 night destination. I hadn't thought much from their website and after our prior stay being at the Fairmont, Quebec thought it would be a somewhat anti-climax but it was far from it. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we ended up eating/drinking where the locals go. In particular, Marco the bartender was great and made a lot of time for us, even at the most busy times! Patricia (who think was one of the managers) was lovely and we ended our stay at a local bar where her husband was doing a gig which was brilliant. The jewel in the crown personally was the roof top pool and with the weather being very warm and sunny, came into its own. Only bad point was the slow elevators, they took forever! All in all, a fab stay.

Room Tip: There are 28 floors and we were on the 14th which was nice and quiet.

We had to go to Montreal to visit family and friends. They all live close to that part of town and the choice could not have been any better. Walking distances (less than 5 minutes in some cases) to most of them. Area is rich in restaurants and nice places to visit. Walk to the Old Port is not long. I took it a few times and in fact it is enjoyable.

Hotel staff was helpful at arrival (10:00 PM on the eve of Grand Prix).

Room was excellent and as we expected it to be (Suite to accommodate our 22 year daughter in the same suite.. two rooms separated by a french door).

Facility has coin operated laundry which we were happy to use given our relatively long stay.

The room has a mini kitchen (Stove, sink, fridge, etc) and that certainly helped when it came to fixing a quick snack in the room.

We did not use any dining facilities although there are a few at the hotel. We did however, use the coffee shop area on the Mezzanine floor late night and it was good.

Valet parking is in the back of the hotel and is very convenient.

Close by you can see fine clothing stores, the Ritz and the Museum of Fine Arts. McGill is just down the street.

Botanical Gardens are 7 miles down the street.

I had to go to Montreal because a young family member was having a bone marrow transplant. It was not a holiday that I was on, but found the staff so very helpful and friendly. I only know conversational french, and found that their english was perfect, and they were only too happy to humour me with my poor french. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel, and the room service was excellent. I would gladly stay there again if I ever go back to Montreal. Location was perfect, and a taxi was always there in minutes. Kitchen was a nice bonus, as I was in and out during my stay.

I stayed here for 2 weeks while on a work trip. The hotel has a kitchen which is beneficial on the road & in a city where dining is so expensive. Actually, everything is expensive here in addition to our dollar being weaker, so beware! There is a mini grocery on Stanley one block up & left a couple blocks with comparable prices to larger stores further away. Not all kitchens in this hotel are equal; mine had a stove/microwave/toaster/full sized fridge/sink/plates/glasses/ flatware/cookware (no baking sheet though). Some of my coworkers were lacking an oven. The room is appointed nicely (couch-not comfy/desk/king sized bed/flat screen TV). I like a soft mattress so it was too hard for me. Also it did take awhile for the hot water in the shower to kick in (11th floor). This seems to be an intermittent problem between floors. One coworker on 11 no issue. One coworker on 17 same problem, so just be aware & test this early if you think it will bother you during your stay. And they have extra toiletries at the front desk if needed (they didn't stock lotion in my room). There are washers/dryers on the 20th floor & a business center with printer on the 3rd. There is a great view from the pool deck of the Olympic Tower (if pool is open for season). Location is excellent. The museum, tons of galleries, restaurants, shops, drug stores are within a few blocks walk in EVERY direction from the front door. The hotel exchanges money at slightly less than the going rate; I just considered that as a convenience fee. They also have happy each day in the bar. Cab fee should be a set $40.00 from the airport to any of the hotels in this area according to our one driver but be aware because our return driver told us it was $50.00, so no tip for him! Definitely learning a few words of French will help your visit. Bon chance!

It is not one of the most expensive hotel at the avenue, but it is for sure one of the best. My wife and I stayed there on December 31 to spend New Year's in Montreal. We were very tired when we got back from the club, and this hotel was perfect: clean, comfortable and a vey good price. The bed was big and comfortable as we wished. In addition we loved the great view of the city that you can have from the highest rooms. It is really amazing. We had a lovely and romantic experience and will come back for sure.
