“good location”

The rooms were adequate but certainly not spic n span clean. The decor is adquate but not fresh. The pool area is lovely and the location is great, within a short walk of the old city, downtown, shopping, Mont Royal, McGill, etc. Be weary of the cleaning staff though.....things may disappear.

I must say it was a nice place, but for the price paid, I was disappointed. I stayed one night with my boyfriend in their ''romantic'' deal room during an off-season period. It came with champagne, strawberries and rose petals on a king-sized bed. It was very nice, but it was still a very average room that was decorated that cost more than 300$ for the night. On top of this, the clerk at the front desk was rude with my boyfriend when checking in and out of the hotel (we are young adults and he seemed to be snobbing us). The facilities are very nice however and the location is ideal, but my experience was not worth the price paid for the room.

We just returned from our three night/four day stay in Montreal. I ALWAYS read through hotel reviews prior to traveling and I should have really taken to heart the advice given by so many Trip Advisor writers and cancelled our reservation and rebooked at the Intercontinental or Westin.

Pros:
(1) Location. There are several festivals that go on throughout the entire month of July and its the perfect location since it all happens right in front of the hotel. The easy access to the underground Mall, Chinatown, and convention center are ideal.
(2) Friendly Staff. There was a very long line to check-in (and an unexpected heat wave that day) The staff made sure everyone had lots of water and tried to move the line very quickly. I appreciate they were so attentive.

Cons:
(1) Rooms. The rooms are absolutely drab. I was so so so disappointed. The reviews regarding the wallpaper peeling, mold around the vents, and out dated floors and bathrooms are all true. The rooms are also smaller than expected. Even though we did not spend a large amount of time in the room, it's still disappointing knowing after a full and fun day in Montreal that you can't really come back to a nice room to relax.
(2) Elevators. Yes, it's so weird how the elevators are situated. Also, if you are going during a popular time (i.e. festival or convention) beware the elevators run very slow and must accomodate large amounts of people.
(3) Noise. Even though its a pro to be located righ outside of the festivals (if that is important to you), just beaware that the noise factor late at night.

All in all, I unfortunately can not give a rave review for the Hyatt Regency. Simple updates to the rooms and bathrooms could turn this hotel into a real jewel. For my next trip to Montreal, I'll be at the Intercontinental, Westin, or boutique hotel in Old Montreal.

I spent three nights at the Hyatt the last week of June. The hotel is the very best location in the city even though the rooms were small. We were right next to the Jazz Festival, museums, restaurants, and a short walk to Old Montreal. Public transportation was really close. The elevators in the hotel were oddly configured but you finally get it figured out. I was really annoyed with the outrageous charge for the internet. There is a Starbucks directly across from the hotel with free wifi access. Did not take any meals in the hotel, but several meals in Eggspectations Restaurant right out the front door of the hotel. Overall a good experience.

I stayed solo at the Hyatt Regency in Montreal for one night and I had the best Hotel experience ever. I travel a lot and I have stayed in many hotels, but the customer service here was the best one I have ever received. I couldn't find location on St-Catherine street, so the gentleman working at the Exit walked me there!! Also, the receptionist at the Lobby was extremely helpful and nice. She booked me a room with the prettiest view. The lobby/hallways smelled very nice and looked modern and chic.
To be honest, I do not have one negative review of this hotel. Amazing staff, location, service, rooms... Will DEFINITELY be back!

Room Tip: Room with view on St-Catherines street is gorgeous.

We lucked out with this hotel. It has the best location. It is across the street from museums. Festivals are a common occurance and are also across the street. One block down is the subway. The elevators can take you to the other entrance to the mall and food court and it is short walk to old Montreal. It was nice clean rooms, a bar, restaurant, spa, and pool. My only compkaints are that you have to pay for wifi and the pool area is too hot and does not have enough chairs for people to watch their children in the pool or sunbathe.
