“Great location in the heart of Montreal”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

This clean, modern, recently renovated hotel is in a great location -- steps away from the Air Canada centre, a couple of blocks from shopping on St Catherine and only about a 10-15 minute walk from great dining in historic, old Montreal.

The hotel has been refurbished and some things are good such as the comfortable beds but there is a background smell of drains lurking here and there. It is a conference hotel so if you are looking to get drunk with colleagues it's the ideal place for you. Service in the bar isn't great: surly, reluctant cocktail waitress knows she's gonna get a 15% tip whatever. The bar food is fried and dull. If you're looking for a quiet weekend, this is not for you.

I've stayed here a few times. The location is great and the hotel is well kept and maintained. The rooms have always been clean and they know how to treat their repeat customers well.
My biggest pet peeves with the hotel are that:

There should be different pillows available, not just 4 of the same

When calling the front desk, they should be able to pass along to the valet to retrieve the car, or the valet number should be on the ticket and the persons picking up the phone should be able to understand english well. I know we are in Quebec, but it's a hotel and if the front desk can manage it, the valets should too.

It would be nice to have the iPod alarm clocks in every room, not just the top floors.

There was a planned power outage in the hotel and the clock on the radio was not reset by the staff (and the battery in the clock was dead). You would expect a 4 or 5 star hotel to do that for you.

The outlets in the lamps are getting old and sometimes my phone wouldn't charge unless I plugged it in just right, although it is nice to have plugs right on the lamps.

But my biggest complaint with the hotel is the heating system in the room. The fan is always on and it's a window type unit making the room REALLY dry. There should be an auto setting. I also found the temperature setting to be unreliable. Since the fan is always on, it blasts cold air half the time and warm air the other half. It really should shut off when not heating.

On the more positive side, the rooms are nice and beds are pretty comfy. It's nice that they have some HD channels now. The elevators are plentiful and fast (although I have had long waits before when there were sessions getting out on the conference levels). I never had a problem getting my car back (except for the initial phone call asking for it).

I would stay here again but I really wish they would fix the heating system.

I spent 5 nights at this hotel in August 2012 and i arrived at the hotel well after midnight and was quickly checked into a lovely large room (Rm 2129).
As i was travelling solo, i found this hotel to be in a great location, it was one block walk from Saint Catherines, filled with shops, restaurants and lots of sites to see. About a 15min walk to Old Montreal, which was beautiful and also a safe wallk.
Although this hotel is mainly a business hotel, i didn't find this to be a problem, as just like me, there were lots of families and non business people staying there. The lobby was large and had free internet usage with computers and you could also connect to the free wifi in the lobby which is a bonus.
I got a great deal on expedia.com.au and my room was large, with lots of room. Housekeeping attended to the room on a daily basis, the bathroom was large and had all the mod cons.
As a solo female traveller, i always like to stay in a location that is safe for me to venture out of an evening and this hotel met this criteria.
I never used the restaurants at the hotel, so i can't comment, as there were so many other lovely restaurants within the city. They also have an indoor pool with a gym and spa services, which i did use on one occassion, prices for massages are the norm within hotels all over the world.
The staff were lovely and my only gripe would be that they need more staff at front desk to cater for all the people checking in and out.
Other than that, had a great stay at this hotel.........and would stay again if i ever came back to Montreal.

The hotel was nice but it was all business. The price was right for the room but the fees we crazy. Parking $ 25.00, Internet $20 a day. The pool was ok, but not enough chairs. We loved the location. The bed was outstanding and the view from the 30th floor was very nice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor for a great view.

I stayed here for work in October. I like the new room renovations. The bathroom is still a bit dated, and I hope they’ll take care of that soon. I think they have new mattresses - very comfortable. Service at the front desk could be a bit better – felt like I was waiting a long time to get served; but once I got served, service was very courteous and efficient. I’ve stayed at this hotel many times in the past, and like staying here because of its location. My previous stays were just okay, but I was quite pleased this time round.

Happy travels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor.

Hotel had everything I needed. Nothing special about it. Great room and all. The Club Lounge on the 37th floor could do with more food variety. I noticed that the bar and room service and I think the main restaurant all had the same exact food; just a different menu cover. Oh well, it still was good. Watch out for the beef though. The night I ate there I chose a beef entree and it came out very rubbery. Neither the knife nor my teeth could barely cut through it.

Hotel is clean though along with the rooms. Great location for everything.
