“Good value and comfortable rooms...”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

We stayed at the Gouverneur Place Dupuis Montreal in January 2014. We were lucky enough to receive a room on the upper floor. The view was great. The hotel was a pleasant experience overall, although with that said, there is some room for cosmetic improvements. The hotel feels dated in design, including the gym and pool.

The service is great, people are nice, and the location is convenient, especially if you're conducting business on the east side of Montreal. I would come back here purely based on value.

Room Tip: Upper rooms seem nicer and more luxurious.

A great hotel and located on the main street of St.Catherine's Street... 10 min walking distance to a mall and 15-20 min walk to the downtown main shopping buzz.. Staff were very friendly and the room was very clean and fully kitted out... Great view from hotel room over looking the city..

This hotel went way beyond my expectations, with a warm and friendly reception to a comfortable and luxurious room. I went with a group of friends and all of us thought the services and rooms were top notch. The location is perfect for walking around old Montreal. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, value and location.

I thought for the price we paid this was an excellent spot. In essence, the hotel has great bones and is in a fabulous location - with super friendly staff to boot - it just really, desperately needs an update. Having said that though, while out dated, I found the room and general hotel areas very clean, so its more of an aesthetics thing than anything. Served our purpose well, I would prefer a different hotel that is more modern but wouldn't avoid staying here in the future.

We spent 5 days over the Christmas holidays at the Gouverneur and enjoyed our stay. This in an older but well maintained hotel located right down town at the corner of Ste Catherine and St Hubert with very easy, indoor access to the Metro (subway) and the train station. Buses connnect the train station to the Airport

The rooms are nice, the prices modest and the restaurant and bar are well appointed. The best views of the citry are from the upper floors looking west. But the best feature was the friendly and helpful staff.

Stayed at the gouverneur for 2 nights over the Christmas holidays. Upon checking in, I was caught off guard by the requirement of a security deposit, which was bluntly explained to me by the front desk agent who displayed no empathy, (as a matter of fact he's the only hotel employee I came across who seemed not to enjoy his job). I was given a room on the 23rd floor. The hotel is well maintained and I found it very clean. I enjoyed my interaction with the staff; staff is professional and know their job. Customer service at the restaurant was up to par. My complaint is mostly a suggestion, the hotel is in dire need of a current makeover. I could not believe the decor which was very 1980's. In my room, the tv was an old curved screen one with bad pictures and a limited channel selection. The tv remote did not switch it on/off but all the other functions worked. The room came equipped with a pant presser which seemed straight out of the 70s. The curtains were not dark enough letting early morning daylight in, which I found annoying since I wanted to sleep in.
As the title says it is a good hotel, with a dedicated polite, professional staff in a good location close to the subway in downtown Montreal. But it is up to upper management to shell out the renovation bucks. Only when this hotel is brought into the 21st century can it truly claim to be a 4 star.

This hotel is a great combination: one one hand nice, clean, pleasant and comfortable rooms, combined with excellent location, and all of that for a very affordable rates.
It is my first choice in my repeated stays in town.
I LOVE their breakfasts and try to make sure I have it at least once during my stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing toward the Mount Royal - beautiful night view.
