“Great location - very intesting people watching!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This location is amazing. It is right in the center of everything. We took the 747 express from the airport to the hotel. We checked in and got our room right away. The room was pretty average and clean. The only thing I did not like about the room were the pillows were very firm and not comfortable at all. We booked the hotel six months ago so got a great deal. We didn't realize it was the host hotel for the fetish festival so it made for some very intersting people watching no matter where you went in the hotel! :-) All staff members we ran into were friendly and helpful. Tip - We didn't realize until the last day there is a IGA grocery store right in the same building if you want to buy any groceries/snacks/drinks for your room.

We've always wanted to stay at the Gouverneur Place because it's at the very beginning of the gay village. Considering that we would be spending most of our time in that area (bars, shops etc.) we didn't want to have to travel far. We got a great deal on the room for one night through an online site and were happy. If we would've had to pay what they were asking full price we would've been upset. The front desk staff were super helpful with everything but overall the room was just ok. Great view of the city from our room, and the bathroom was clean. I'm not looking for a 5 star diamond suite but I do look for comfort and this was decent. There was a convention going on all weekend that involved a lot of costumes and outlandish behavior but being that the hotel is in the heart of the gay village, the staff took it all in stride and was courteous and helpful to all. A major drawback for this reviewer was the lack of a door person to keep the homeless and street beggars away from the front door. other than that, it wasn't a bad experience there and I'd give it 3/5. I'd stay there again for the convenience of the location but if I want to splurge and spend more, I'd probably stay elsewhere.

I could not have asked for a better stay. The room was clean and comfortable with a spectacular view of Montreal. The park down below provided some entertainment during the Pride festival only adding to the ambiance with plenty of quiet time at night and in the morning. Everybody was friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. The continental breakfast was nicely done and served in an upscale environment on the mezzanine level. And the location! It was all about the location, after a good night sleep, with old Montreal only a short walk away and thousands of people on St. Catherine Street which was closed to autos. Throw in a parade and endless restaurants serving streetside and you have an ideal venue with many choices of entertainment. Good job Montreal and the Hotel Gouverneur Place Dupuis!!

Room Tip: quiet side of Olympic stadium is in one direction, the other side is spectacular view of Montreal bu...

The old adage location x 3 and some nice people is all you get at this hotel. That and if you plan it right, a great view of the city.
The bones of the place are great but some money for renovation should be invested.
Don't look down at the carpet, not a pretty sight. Be prepared to giggle at all the things that don't work or are worn out.

Room Tip: High floor with city view. Some floors were former smoking floors and they still retain a dead smoke...

This hotel is excellently located one block from the main bus station and connected to the Metro underground station which will take you to all main attractions. Our bedroom on the business level floor (free upgrade) which was to a high quality with beautiful views of the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Would definitely recommend. Only negative aspect was the swimming pool which was quite basic.

I recently stayed at Hotel Gouverneur Place Dupuis on business in August. I was pleasantly surprised! Unlike most business trips, this hotel was located right in the heart of the city; it was walking distance from all of Montreal's popular streets, such as St-Denis, St-Laurent, and St-Catherine, and was surrounded by an abundance of restaurants, bars, and shopping to keep me entertained during my off hours! The rooms were simple and elegant; perfect for a quick stay on business. And lastly, the service was great! Every employee that served me during my stay was very pleasant and helpful! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Montreal!

The hotel location is great as stated in other reviews, easy walk to old town sights and local restaurants etc. Hotel is a little dated but clean, we were on the 23rd floor with a great view of the city and the Mont. What made the hotel shine for us was the front desk staff - very good at their jobs, welcoming, informative, friendly and above all else accommodating to make our stay a memorable stay to celebrate our anniversary. Parking was easy in underground park below hotel and it is with in and out privileges. We did not use the pool but there is a fitness and pool area. There is a starbucks type place directly across from the hotel and a MacDonalds beside that for the ease of a quick coffee and head out for the day of exploring. The hotel is showing its age but this did not impact our stay and the staff more then made up. A special thanks to Paulo who went an extra bit to make our anniversary stay memorable - thank you.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor with the Mont and city view
