Stayed in late November / early / December of 2013. My only request prior to checking in was a high floor, which they managed to do. I arrived at about 2:30 and had to wait until 3:00 for a room. Check in is at 3:00 but I saw others waiting, so take that for what's worth (I'm not sure if this is a regular occurrence).
I like the location. Close to a lot of things or just a short walk. Even in the winter it isn't bad and a short walk to the Peel Metro.
Room: Wasn't big but wasn't tiny. They are bigger than the rooms at the BW Europa location as far as I can tell. Everything was clean, nice flat screen, nice desk area, wifi worked for fine me, mini fridge was nice and it was quiet for the most part (no street noise).
The brand: If you like BW and the price was pretty good in comparison to other hotels in the area.
The Not So Good:
The Room – as mentioned, larger than the Europa but not huge. I had a lot of trouble getting hot water from both the sink and the tub/shower. I was on the 19th floor and did relay this problem to staff upon check out. The hot water eventually came but you had to wait....over 2 minutes I'd say. Odd. I also found it barely got hot enough at the sink to shave.
Noise: While there was little street noise (the odd siren based on it being downtown) there was some internal noise. I didn't really hear any noise from rooms through the walls, just the odd loud customer, either in the halls or in a room nearby where they decide to keep the door open. In either case it didn't last long enough to warrant calling the front desk and it should be noted that this can happen in any hotel...it's kind of a “luck of the draw”situation. The problem is with the guest, not with the hotel.
The large elevator that services the high floors was out of order for a time. That meant I had to use the service elevator. Not a big deal but I did find it annoying that when they got the elevator working they didn't take the sign down they posted on the 19th floor. Just an over sight I suppose.
I didn't use any of the facilities they may have so I won't comment on that.
My interaction with staff was limited to checking in and checking out. I didn't have a car. Manager or someone greeted me one morning in the lobby, that was nice.
I would stay here again and plan to. I'll keep an eye on two things that bothered me: waiting till exactly 3:00 for check in...I can't complain too much but if it was due to my request for a high room I'd take a lower room just to get checked in and settled so that might be on me. Also the hot water issue. I'm not concerned about the noise as I know the same thing could happen at any hotel. I'm giving this a 3...more like a 3.5 but it'd be a 4 if it weren't for the hot water (lack of) that I experienced. Hopefully that's a one off because this is a nice hotel in a great location and you can usually get a decent price.
