“Close to the metro station called Namur”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

July 2013 - 3 and 4 nights

MONTREAL TRUDEAU AIRPORT
TAXI:We arrived by airplane and was told at the taxi desk that from the airport to Hotel Ruby Foo's the cost should be around $30 - $35 one way.

BUS/Metro - Bus 747 takes you from the Airport/Downtown. A one day unlimited fare card for bus/metro is $9 for a day or a 3 day unlimited fare card is $18. (Children under 5 travel free on the 747 bus - and a special summer promotion we were told about children under 12 travel free on the metro and city bus.

We took the 747 bus from the airport to the Lionel-Groulx bus stop/metro station. We then caught the metro from Lionel-Groulz to Namur metro station (7 stops); as you walk out of the Namur station which is about 1 - 1.5 blocks from Hotel Ruby Foo's you will see a Harveys restaurant right beside the station, walk by Harvey's, then walk by a 24 hour diner, service station and one set of lights (all on the same side) and there you will see Hotel Ruby Foo's.

FREE PARKING- The parking lot is located in front of the hotel and there is no charge for parking your car.

Our group had booked four rooms and sales sent us a little welcome gift - that was nice. Three families had travelled by car; we all walked to the Namur station and used the metro daily.

CHECK-IN: We had arrived before check in time and the hotel was full the day prior so the rooms were not yet ready. We used the opportunity to spend time at the outdoor pool and the front desk called housekeeping to see if our room could be cleaned sooner. I thought that was thoughtful as I had been travelling with a young child.

OUTDOOR POOL: The weather was a little bit of everything, but we very much enjoyed the pool. On our last day the pool was closed due to pending weather, but when they learned that our children wanted to swim they called in a lifeguard and said we would take a wait and see approach and our children were able to swim. Wow...that is wonderful service.

LOCATION: The location where the hotel is to a visitor does not visually seem very nice I have to be honest, but the friendly staff at the front desk and all the staff that would say hello in the hallways, being close to the metro and free parking - plus the outdoor pool makes me "Like" this hotel and I give it a solid 3.5 star rating.
I travel for a living so I am use to staying in chain hotels near the airport.

HOTEL: If you get a price you are happy with then please try this hotel. The beds were firm hotel quality beds and the rooms we were assigned had been renovated. We found the rooms felt new enough and seemed clean enough (you know what I mean..) - Each room also had a small fridge.

I recently stayed here for a business trip and found the experience to great in every manner. The updated hotel is clean and classy. It is conveniently located and has ample parking. I had breakfast at the hotel and it was good as well. It seems like a good place to stay on either business or traveling through Montreal.

you look at the pics on the hotel website, and they are pretty accurate as to what you get. not too fancy but feels newly renovated; well appointed, large rooms, nice bathroom, comfortable beds, free parking, good value (no breakfast, but there is a timmy's very close by). it is on a busy road by the expressway so we asked for a quiet room; they gave us one on the back of the one of the wings (there are several) and i think it was quieter than my home.

we were visiting family, it is very conveniently located (especially if you come by car), and the metro is nearby. however, if you come as a tourist to see montreal, it would be my personal opinion that a more central location would be better.

there was a small coffee maker in the room (yay!) but no small pouches of coffee (boo!!).

My family of 4 enjoyed our stay from July 4, 2013 till July 7, 2013.

1.The people at the front desk were friendly and courteous even though we could only speak English.
2. The room was clean and spacious.
3. The pool has a lifeguard on duty and towels available poolside.
4. The exercise room was clean and well lit.
5. The Metro is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
6. 15 minutes Metro ride to downtown Montreal for shopping.
7. 20 minutes Metro ride to Old Montreal.
8. Once you are at Old Montreal, you could easily walk to the port, the Jazz Festival venues, or Chinatown.

Hotel Ruby Foo's is a great home base for your trips into the heart of Montreal. There are many restaurants for almost any budget within walking distance of the hotel. The best thing about this hotel is the price. It could save you well over a $100.00 a night as compared to hotels in the heart of Montreal. It did for me.

Hotel Ruby Foo's is a very nice place to stay in Montreal. The rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfortable. Several restaurants are within walking distance although the second night we ate at the restaurant on site and it was very good as well.

Large bathroom with flexible handheld shower head. Free wifi and parking. Hotel's Italian restaurant serves wonderful pasta and seafood dishes. Hearty breakfasts also available. Beautiful heated pool.

My husband and I stayed at Ruby Foos for the F-1 race weekend, and plan on returning to this hotel next year! The hotel is very easy to get to from the highway, parking is free and plentiful in a gated lot. The metro station is a very easy 5 minute walk and then a 30+ minute subway to get to the track and other points of interest downtown. We were very happy to enjoy all the fun of the weekend all day, then retreat to a calmer (and cheaper) part of the city There are many restaurant options available, in both walking and short driving distance, in addition to the hotel . (we chose to eat at the hotel, the wood fired pizza is wonderful....about $17 for an artisan pizza that was enough for both of us). There are many stores around, including a Wal-Mart, which we appreciated when we needed to buy a few race day items that we forgot to buy before we left. There are many fast breakfast options available; Tim Horton, McDonalds, Burger King, etc., but we chose a diner-type joint. For about $7 p/p we had a bottomless cup of coffee and full breakfast that was a bit under seasoned but filled us up for the day (about a block from the hotel, on the way to the metro station). The rooms were very spacious and clean, the bed comfortable and soft with an abundance of pillows. The bathroom was also spacious with ample counter space and excellent water pressure. I appreciate little things the hotel provided like shower caps and body lotion, which many hotels do not anymore. Overall The proximity of the hotel to the metro, reasonable price, clean rooms and convenience to shopping make this an excellent choice visiting Montreal.
