July 2013 - 3 and 4 nights
MONTREAL TRUDEAU AIRPORT
TAXI:We arrived by airplane and was told at the taxi desk that from the airport to Hotel Ruby Foo's the cost should be around $30 - $35 one way.
BUS/Metro - Bus 747 takes you from the Airport/Downtown. A one day unlimited fare card for bus/metro is $9 for a day or a 3 day unlimited fare card is $18. (Children under 5 travel free on the 747 bus - and a special summer promotion we were told about children under 12 travel free on the metro and city bus.
We took the 747 bus from the airport to the Lionel-Groulx bus stop/metro station. We then caught the metro from Lionel-Groulz to Namur metro station (7 stops); as you walk out of the Namur station which is about 1 - 1.5 blocks from Hotel Ruby Foo's you will see a Harveys restaurant right beside the station, walk by Harvey's, then walk by a 24 hour diner, service station and one set of lights (all on the same side) and there you will see Hotel Ruby Foo's.
FREE PARKING- The parking lot is located in front of the hotel and there is no charge for parking your car.
Our group had booked four rooms and sales sent us a little welcome gift - that was nice. Three families had travelled by car; we all walked to the Namur station and used the metro daily.
CHECK-IN: We had arrived before check in time and the hotel was full the day prior so the rooms were not yet ready. We used the opportunity to spend time at the outdoor pool and the front desk called housekeeping to see if our room could be cleaned sooner. I thought that was thoughtful as I had been travelling with a young child.
OUTDOOR POOL: The weather was a little bit of everything, but we very much enjoyed the pool. On our last day the pool was closed due to pending weather, but when they learned that our children wanted to swim they called in a lifeguard and said we would take a wait and see approach and our children were able to swim. Wow...that is wonderful service.
LOCATION: The location where the hotel is to a visitor does not visually seem very nice I have to be honest, but the friendly staff at the front desk and all the staff that would say hello in the hallways, being close to the metro and free parking - plus the outdoor pool makes me "Like" this hotel and I give it a solid 3.5 star rating.
I travel for a living so I am use to staying in chain hotels near the airport.
HOTEL: If you get a price you are happy with then please try this hotel. The beds were firm hotel quality beds and the rooms we were assigned had been renovated. We found the rooms felt new enough and seemed clean enough (you know what I mean..) - Each room also had a small fridge.
