One of the best bike paths in the continent, great views of the river and well delineated bike and pedestrian paths. Go es for miles and a wonderful area for the whole family.

We had a pleasant walk along the canal, a sliver between Old Montreal and the massive grain elevators that have not been used in ages. Not a very active canal, used just for some pleasure boats.

Rent a bike by the river and ride along this lovely path that traces the old Lachine canal- its lined by a lovely park on both sides and you can see small pleasure boats that still use the locks to get to the St Lawrence seaway.

If like us you love the industrial heritage of a city then you will love this. The paths are in great shape and link up to lots of bike paths and even the islands. You can easily walk 10km and not be bored and cycle much further without much effort. All flat.

followed gps from old port montreal to verendrye/L'eglise and saw pathway and big green sign under series of highways but no where to park nor stop nor turn around and road sends you back onto hwy. We tried twice and ended back onto hwy and eventually gave up. very seedy, scary looking area - run down. Never found a parking area. Never saw a park nor place safe enough looking to let children out of car. shocked this is suppose to be a national historical site. incredibly disappointed.
