The Loft Hotel was the worst hotel we have ever been too and we travel a lot!
Its all show and no action. Yes the rooms are very spacious and modern, but please don't let this fool ya! We spent the wknd. in Montreal, overall, Montreal is an awesome city and we had a good time, but the hotel was a downer, i would give it a -1 rating if i could. We checked in Friday eve. at 7pm. we noticed that the room had no cable? in this day and age, no cable? we let it slip, then we noticed the toilet didn't work, so we called and asked to get it fixed, they said that is not possible until Monday and the customer service was beyond poor. They don't have any maintenance workers on site - not good for a hotel!! they put us in another room, again, all show, as it was very nice. After 1 shower, we noticed the water wasn't going anywhere, yup, the shower drain wasn't working, they put us in room #3, pls. note we stayed there for only 2 nights!!!! poor ratio if you ask me. The 3rd room was again nice (ALL SHOW), we noticed the room was very cold, we tried to increase the heat, but there was no HEAT, we called to complain about this, the hotel staff said the heat comes on at 6pm to 6am?!!, pls. note, its November in Montreal! What an INSANE rule to have!! We packed our things and left, after a threat or 2 we got some of our $ back and we went to another hotel nearby and enjoyed the rest of our stay, in a place that provided great customer service, with a simple room that had the essentials working with no problems.

Room Tip: Just don't look at how the room looks, make sure everything is working in that room!!

We stayed at the Loft Hotel for only one night. The rooms are modern, clean design and very large. I loved the floor to ceiling windows, but didn't have a view (looked onto another building in an alley). I didn't mind since we only stayed one night. If we stayed longer I would have asked for another room, which I'm sure they would have accommodated if available. The staff was extremely nice.

The only complaint I have is the noise. There is no soundproofing. The guests staying above us got in at 3am, which we probably wouldn't have noticed if they had taken off their heels - clicking back and forth across the hardwood. At 9am people in the hallway outside our room were loudly setting up for an event or something in the room across from us. They woke us an hour before we planned to get up, which was unfortunate because the bed was very comfortable.

Side note on cleanliness: overall the place was clean, but the washroom door looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months with smudges and finger prints all over it, and the sideboard in the dining area was noticeably dirty. These seem minor, but in a hotel of this level I expect everything to be clean.

I am torn between liking and disliking this hotel based on the disruptions and cleanliness issues. Truthfully, I've stayed at the Opus in the past, and I will probably choose to stay there in the future. Similar prices, location, friendliness and modern decor, but without the issues.

We only stayed here one night, but the room was beautiful and huge! However, the hallways were very dark (painted dark gray and lit with small pot lights) to go with the very modern theme. The front desk staff was helpful. we had a giftcard for our stay but they were not aware of how to use it, but once they spoke to their manager it was all straightened out. there are a lot of restaurants and bars all along the street as well. overall we had a good stay.

We stayed for two nights last weekend at the Loft Hotel - the rooms are just amazing, this is the largest room with the exception of some luxury suites, that we have ever stayed in. Really nicely designed, clean and tidy - please put some tea making facilities in the room but you can get refreshments within a two minute walk. Very well placed, friendly and helpful staff and would high recommend a stay there!

Room Tip: all the rooms are good

This hotel doesn't look like any other one, simply surprising ! Lofts are very big (about 100 m2), and well equipped with in particular a large kitchen. The decoration in rooms and inside hotel is very original, urban and contemporary. The hotel is situated in a nice avenue, with many restaurants, stores, and close to the subway. The breakfast is light, and served in the hotel hall, so you'd rather take it in your loft. Rates are high, but you can always find a way to book cheaper.
We strongly recommand this hotel, for few nights, one week or more.

This hotel tries to be cool, tries to be happening and tries to be avant-garde, but it fails most miserably, unfortunately.

I write this at quarter after midnight on my evening with the Loft, after the front desk boy banged on my door to see who was in the room. Across the hall from the room is a loud wedding party, complete with all the requisite cheers, thumping bass lines, and support staff rumbling down the hallway, just like Hitler through France... in the middle of the night.

Earlier this afternoon, after we settled in, our door was opened by other "guests", who were sorry to barge in on us. Of course this was suspicious, so we checked our electronic keys and they no longer worked. The youngster at the front desk apologized and gave us new keys...

At 23:30 (11:30 PM), the late-night front desk boy banged on our door, as I said earlier, asking who was in the room. I watched through the peep-hole as he tried using a key card to open the door. He wore no uniform, had no name tag or anything to identify that he worked for the hotel, yet demanded to know who was in the room -- RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

He then left, saying he would be back (???). I dressed and went to the front desk and asked for an explanation. I asked his name. I asked for the manager. I asked for the manager's name. I asked for a refund. He would give me nothing, but said I could move to another room (in the middle of the night with lots of luggage).

By the way, these rooms have no phones and the silverware was missing from the kitchen. The bathroom door is supposed to have 5 panels of glass, but ours had only the top 4. The bottom glass panel was broken out when we arrived, obviously because the door opens into the toilet. There were holes in the walls around the switch-plates, as the construction crew failed to pay attention to details. Some of the lights in our room did not work - the lights were blown and never replaced. The "black-out" curtains did not cover all the windows, so we had some penetrating beams of light from the city all night.

Unlike other hotels, this one uses a good old stack of paper and a single laptop for organization. The laptop is supposed to make the place look super modern, but the stack of paper on the desk is where the action is. The staff has no training in today's Stack-of-Paper Organization technique, nor do they have training in Customer Service.

Good luck to you if you stay here. You will most likely get screwed... AND THEY COULD NOT CARE LESS.

Room Tip: Unfinished rooms. Avoid at all costs.
