If you can get a deal staying at the Le St-Martin Hotel, BOOK IT! It's in the heart of the city -- one block north of the major shopping hub (St. Catherines)/Eaton Centre, the metro. The staff are super friendly and professional and the room we stayed in was one of the best (2 queens) and I've stayed at a number of hotels in the city (Sheraton, Hilton, Queen Elizabeth, etc). We had 2 young kids under 5 and they treated us well (though there doesn't seem to be many kids, appears more of an adult/business hotel) and were very friendly with the kids. Valet parking is a bit pricey $29 but IT IS downtown so it's actually fair priced and it's valet so super convenient and they were always very timely (another plus is that the garage is underground below the hotel so your car is safe!). They have a heated outdoor pool but we didn't have time to try it. Two words: amazing experience!

Room Tip: Note that our room had a shutter that could be slide open from the bedroom to view the bathroom...

Staff was especially friendly throughout our stay. This is not a big hotel, and lobby can be crowded at check-in and check-out. Our room ("verriere suite") was spacious, very clean and so lovely. Bathroom was huge! with a great big bath tub in addition to the shower. Bed was exceptionally comfy. TV network was so so (not many channels and slow to respond) but who needs a TV when you have such a great view. However, if you like your bedroom to be very dark, the "verriere" may not be for you (only blinds in the windows). Small fridge in the room. Pool and deck around it are small but very charming (not many "chaises longues"). It was more than enough, however, to cool down a little after a day of shopping. Hotel is close to every store you can imagine (Ste-Catherine street). Rooms are not cheap, so shop around to get the best deal.

Room Tip: Snacks and beverages in the fridge are not free, but know that someone will knock at your door betwe...

We recently stayed at Le St-Martin in Montreal while in town to watch our eldest son race at Swimming Canada's Age Group Championships which was held on the island at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The metro stop was located directly across the street from our hotel allowing us to easily access the subway and travel to and from the island. The hotel staff were extremely courteous, and our younger children loved the outdoor pool. The food at the on-site restaurant was excellent, and the rooms were immaculate and well decorated. We would most definitely stay at this hotel on a future visit to Montreal!

Stayed here on a Saturday night while attending the Just for Laughs festival. The hotel was very clean and modern, and the bed was extremily comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accomodating.

The location is perfect, right in the heart of downtown, a 2 minute walk to St-Catherine, the McGill Metro staton is two blocks away.

Room Tip: I accidently parked in the lot next to the hotel (not affiliated), but it worked out. The cost was...

I stayed here for a conference, four-nights mid-week, the second-to-last week of July. I booked a room through hotels-dot-com, and with an additional booking discount from the website I ended up paying something like $95.00 a night (minus tax), which was a fantastic rate (and significantly cheaper than their average rates I believe). I got a room on the 15th floor (in a higher room class than I think I had booked), and it was a beautiful room. The bathroom was enormous, with a full walk-in shower, double sink vanity, and giant stand-alone (modern) tub, with sliding venetian-blind doors (that opened out onto the room). The room was very large, extremely well appointed, and the bed was fantastic (king-size for my room).

The lobby was small but well-done. I didn't get a chance to check out the restaurant on-site, but the outdoor dining area was crowded on most nights. The pool area was very cute (though compact), but I only had time to go once. The hotel staff were great. The front desk looked moderately overwhelmed at times, but seemed to be taking it in stride.

As far as location, it was excellent for me, as my conference was coincidentally (I didn't know this at time of booking) right around the corner. It's close to the park (Mount Royal) for a jog or walk, McGill's campus, and the Peel Metro station. I think if you wanted to experience the flavour of Montreal's more personal neighborhoods it might not be the best location (though not terrible, either, given the Metro right nearby and only a 20-30 minute walk to the Plateau or the Old Port), but for business/conference/university travel it's fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel over the weekend and had a great experience. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the bed was super comfortable. Very close to walk to the Just for Laughs festival nearby, and lots of choices for food and shopping all around. The fitness centre is a bit small (1 treadmill, 1 eliptical, 1 bike) but gets the job done, and the little heated outdoor pool was perfect for relaxing in after the workout.

Room Tip: We got a lux room, the big bathtub is really nice.

Recently stayed here for a weekend get-away. it is a very nice hotel that has been taken care of very well. The room, although smaller than most, was beautiful, clean and very comfortable, well stocked with anything you could need, and the beds had very good quality bedding - again, very comfortable. The valets were so nice, and helped us with everything and they were so very polite. The only complaint I have is that the pool is TINY!! Like, the size of two jacuzzi's pushed together! And there was no jacuzzi. Also, there was no cream for breakfast in the restaurant - and the waitresses weren't all helpful and friendly- this could have been taken care of with a quick trip to the grocer's - but instead they served milk and told us that's all they have. Despite the couple of little problems, I will definitely return to this hotel!
