Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Called the Sailors' Church because of the wooden ship models that hang from its ceiling, this church was originally designed by Marguerite Bougeoys, one of Montreal's first teachers. Next to the Chapel, the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum ($) presents fascinating stories/accounts and significant objects to showcase the life and work of Marguerite Bourgeoys, Montréal's first teacher. Visitors can explore the 18th-century stone crypt and climb the tower to admire a stunning view of the St. Lawrence, Old Montréal and downtown. The archaeological site, opened in 1998, has witnessed more than 2,400 years of history. In addition to its permanent exhibition spaces, the Museum offers a variety of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities, along with school programs.

we pick a rainy weekend to site see but we made the best of it. Old Montreal ( Vieux-Montréal ) is one place that everyone should visit more than once!

“Don't waste your money on the "light Show"”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

The cathedral is breathtaking, but the show is silly. Just go in the daytime, take a tour, make a donation and skip the show.

Smaller, also impressive. Nice interior, and has a tower with a view of the river. Must see place in Old Montreal.

“Great staff. Great view”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

The miniature doll story was impressive and informative. Climb the 69+ stairs to the top, and then keep going up. There are two stops where you can go outside at the top. Go to the crypt and ask for the extra tour so that you can see the archeological dig area, which is otherwise kept locked.
