Owner description: A daring architectural site, the Olympic Park was built to accommodate the 1976 Summer Olympics and has since been host to more than one hundred million visitors. Whether to admire Montreal from atop the highest inclined tower in the world, to attend an event in the Stadium, to exercise at the Sports Centre or to take part in an outdoor event at the Esplanade Financiere Sun Life, there is something for everyone. The Olympic Park grounds and its thirteen on-site partners are visited by more than four million people every year. Open to the world and in harmony with the neighbouring community of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, the Olympic Park has become a unique recreational and tourist attraction where creation, discovery, entertainment, and sport coexist side-by-side. New for the summer 2016 The Souvenirs of 1976 exhibit will take you back in time to (re)live the Montreal Olympic adventure-from the project's tentative beginnings to today, when the flame still burns.

“Just hit the attractions and move on”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

There's some type of terrace area behind the Biodome, but it's mostly just large concrete areas -- maybe they call it an esplanade? It's a waste of time to walk around here too much off the beaten path, unless you're just looking for exercise.

“Lots of great options, but be selective”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The Olympic park has several attractions available in close proximity to each other. They have smartly figured out that selling passes to all of them as a package will entice naive tourists and they make much of the fact that you have several days to use the pass and each of these attractions "if you do them properly" will take several hours.

So here's what we thought. We went (2 adults, a 7 year old child), were talked into the pass and used it over 2 days. We did not see all of the attractions because it is exhausting to take all of them in. In addition, they are not all close together, so part of your exhaustion may be moving between them (Insectarium and Botanical Gardens together, Biodome, planetarium and the tower grouped to ether). And after you've spent a couple of days there, don't you think you're going to want to go somewhere else in the city? It's not like they've got a watermark or kid-friendly restaurant that's going to keep your kids coming back for more.

That's why my advice is to be selective, because each thing attraction is really interesting and it's fine to just take one day to see one thing. We loved the biodome even though it was so crowded. You will get to see animals that you probably only know in animated form. The planetarium was great too, but best for geeks since you are essentially having to sit still and ponder the universe while Philip Glass plays in the background. It gets bonus points for having bean bag chairs in tone of the shows. The tower is a fun ride and an interesting view, but I can't believe we paid so much for it. Without exception, people seem to spend about 10 minutes up there. Maybe you spend more time if you were at the '76 Olympics and want to reminisce?

We never made it to the insectarium or the botanical gardens because we started walking and our 7 year old hit some kind of wall. Frankly, I was done too.

Definitely recommended, in measured doses.

“Must do in Montreal”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

It is one the few good things you could do in Montreal.. The ride to the top at 45 degrees inclination was good. The experience will be fun if you go with friends or kids.. You can get a good view once you climb up. Since there is nothing much to do in this city, I would recommend this..

“Botanical Garden & Insectarium”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Just visit the garden for $29 and forget the rest of the pricey attractions ..... this year there's a phenomenal topiary competition from around the world of flower/plant sculptures, too cool to miss. You'll be amazed at the size, the imagination, creativity that went into these displays. Kids will enjoy the insectarium and even if you don't particularly like insects (like me) you'll find it interesting and a learning experience. You can easily spend most of the day here so wear comfortable shoes and don't forget your camera! Great photo opps!

“Ride the Tower”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

We spent a couple of hours at the olympic park to ride the tower. It was an interesting experience. The view is not as high as it could be, but it's worth the experience. We had a hard time finding a taxi to go back to the hotel, so if you dont want to ride the metro, have patience to wait until a taxi comes around.
