It is an ideal site for admiring a wide variety of plants and birds or for enjoying outdoor activities. If you take a tour bus, get off in the parking lot and walk straight back from the back of the bus. Less than five minutes up a gentle hill brings you to the wide terrace of the Mount Royal Chalet and a beautiful view of the city. The Smith House (visible from the parking lot) provides refreshments and (downstairs) a presentation of the geology of the area.

Nice view, pretty park , healthy walk. Can be missed. Nice place for picnic lunch. We walked down and then to the rue saint Denis district which was a great exploration - nice shopping and restaurants. You get a real flavor for neighborhoods by taking this walk - it is not an easy walk however

Beautiful walk, views. A great break after spending a few days walking the city streets. Easy access -- just head uphill and you'll find an entrance!

We hiked up to Mont Royal. A nice walk up (a bit of an exercise actually) and a good view from the terrace. A nice cafe at the top would be great.

We rented bikes at a little bike shop at 115 W Mont Royal St. and rode up to the peak of Mont Royal. The trek was lovely as the wide path scissored up to the top. Montreal, like most of Quebec, has extensive bike paths and I would recommend exploring with a bike anywhere one travels in Quebec. Mont Royal is no exception. We were at the Chalet in no time looking over the beautiful city - it was magnificent.
