“Great place to see fall colours”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

It's a lovely park - locals use it regularly. It has a good view of the city and is worth the climb up to the top. Put on your trail shoes and go off road for a more authentic experience and do yourself a favour and head to the cemetery after. A great half a day out:)

“Peaceful and beatiful lake”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Bring a picnic basket - and settle down on the benches or on the grass by the lake. There were loads of ducks/geese in the summer and insects too (bring bug spray). Loads of joggers and kids - but plenty of room for all. There is also a restaurant but we did not visit. There is a fee for parking - so bring enough change to feed the meter.

“A verdant oasis”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Okay...so one of my friends called our trek through Mont Royal the "death march"...but that's because she's getting over knee surgery! The park has well marked & maintained trails so even my recovering friend was able to take in the splendour easily (if not silently!).

“Hike to the top!”

Mount Royal with River and city views. Steep and beautiful walk, just in the middle of the city. Pavilion on the way for coffee.

“Full of squirrels and good exercise!”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

I walked up and down the "mountain" on a very late autumn day - not many leaves left on the trees, but the place was alive with squirrels - which may have been red ones. Some steep paths, but also an easy way up for cyclists and joggers, if you choose.
