The most amazing thing about little Italy is the availability of Italian products. Boucherie da Milano offers imported food from Italy. Also part of the little italy experience is the Jean-Talon public market.
In a word. Food.
Hit up the coffee shops, stop by Milano, and Marche Jean Talon. Good eats, mellow vibe, and old world couture. Dig it!
Little Italy is great because you can see just how culturally diverse Montreal really is. Even though it's labelled "Little Italy," you can see any number of people from different cultural backgrounds all shuffling around getting their shopping done at Charcuterie Milano, or taking a break at Caffe Italia, or having a drink at Cafe International, or buying a (generally overpriced) book at Bibliotheque Italienne, or looking for their favorite player's soccer jersey at Evangelista Sports, or shopping for clothes at any of the quaint vintage shops and boutiques, or getting a gelato at Pile ou Glace, or buying some shoes at Cortina, or looking for that perfect wedding dress at Galleria della Sposa, or buying some latin music at Caraballo Disco. It really has it all.
Sights, sounds, tastes! If you're looking for a little Italian flavour in the big city of Montreal, do yourself a favour and get down to Little Italy!
