My husband is from the Montreal area and this is one of the first places we went to when we started dating. I love animals of all kind and I really enjoyed the Biodome. I love that you're basically walking in an open area with animals in a way that feels really natural and open. The only animals that were behind glass was the Arctic exhibit because it would have been too cold. However, it's possible to get right up to the glass and see the penguins right on the other side. They,re very curious and would come right to the glass to see the families. Kids loved it.

Whenever we go up to Montreal we make time for the Biodome. We try to take as much family there as we can because it's a great family attraction.

We paid 15.00 to park in a very low ceiling garage. We bought our tickets with a AAA discount. The only thing interesting was the four Eco- systems . There were a variety of species of birds, bats, fish, and of course our favorite "penguins". Other than a room filled with fossils and a room that had real animals that were stuffed in glass enclosed cases, there was nothing impressive about this "zoo". I would change the name and call it an aquarium! That is exactly what it was!

The crowds can be a bit daunting, but otherwise a fun place for the whole family. Some of the animals can be a bit hard to spot, after all they are in their own "natural" environment. If you have kids be sure to check out the downstairs area (it's easy to miss), it's a little more interactive, you get to do things like handle wale bones and such.
Be sure to buy your tickets on line, you get to bypass the massive lineup and go straight in.

When we asked them what was the highlight of their trip, all of them agreed it was the Biodome. Worth a trip there with kids. Highly recommend that you take the metro. The station is right next door. Biodome is like an indoor zoo, with adequate number of inhabitants. You can easily spend 2 hours there.

you can combine tickets with the insectarium, planetarium, etc. We managed to walk through the Biodome in 1hr 15min with a 5yr old, 45mins in insectarium. It was a 10min walk uphill from Biodome to Insectarium. We could have gone back to car, drove to Insectarium, re parkd, but it would have taken us probably 15 so was worth the walk. There is a gift shop in Biodome but not Insectarium.
