Largest roman catholic church in Montreal. Very steep climb, some people might have difficulty walking up. Offers nice views of the city. Buy the miracle oil of St. Joseph.

We took a cab out to Mount Royal on a Sunday. Were fortunate to catch a memorial mass for their firefighters. Extremely beautiful and moving.

it was a surreal experience to see a chatholic church of this size that puts you at ease. (no pomp and pagentry)
no fancy bells and wistles magnificent archutecture and grounds.
view of the city was spectacular--
easy parking and there were no mobility issues when you parked at the top.

An interesting building (Italian Renaissance style basilica (the largest in Canada - and dedicated to the country's patron saint - Brother Andre - who was canonised in 2010 by Pope Benedict xvl). A little remote from the city centre - but always included in Montreal City Tours. Brother Andre is reported to have performed many miracles here in the early 1900's. St. Joseph's is visited by millions.

The priests and brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross are proud and humbled to serve at the Oratory. The founder, Saint Andre was a Holy Cross brother.
