Interesting history. We visited in February when the chapel was closed. Probably even more beautiful during the growing season. Take notice of the countless canes hanging of people who have been healed!

“Brother Andre”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Brother Andre started this dream and he was so beloved that the people donate en masse over the years so he could build his little church into a world class Oratory and the grounds are also beautiful offering great views of Montreal and it was completely free till they tacked on a $5. charge to get in which as the Catholic church they really aren't supposed to charge only ask for a donation but I guess they didn't like the low donations so put a fixed charge on it. The creches or mangers in the museum are nice to see although here too they no longer just let you donate but charge a fixed fee which is too much for what they offer.

“Beautiful experience.”

If you want a spectacular view of Montreal, venture up to Mount Royale. The Oratory is equally impressive, both architecturally and for the story of its origin. An impressive testament to vitality of French Catholic tradition.

“Impressive on the outside”

The building looks grand but inside I thought it was a too confusing to get around. I'm not a big fan of the shrine either with all the candles.
