The St. Joseph oratory by far surpasses any other attraction in Montreal. It stands on the Mont Royal and its entrance garden is one of a kind. The building is truly magnificient and the interior of the oratory is equally maginificient. I would rank it at the top of the attractions of Montreal.

Yes, while in Montreal YOU MUST see Notre-Dame and the little chapelle at the back where Celine Dion got married to Rene Angelil. But if you have been to France, it is basically a replica of Notre Dame de Paris. That is why I think you MUST see the Oratory since there's nothing like it. It is so majestic and sticks out on the side of Mount Royal. The dome itself makes you go "WOW!" and that is the major difference with Notre Dame where you cant really enjoy how "majestic" it is since it is to close to other buildings. And if you are superstitious, go ahead and climb the 280 steps ON YOUR KNEES all the way to the top. Thats what the old coach of the famous local NHL hockey team The Montreal Canadiens did in 1993, and his team when on to win the Stanley Cup (Championship Trophy) a few weeks later!

Beautiful and grand. Definitely worth the stop, and close to the Metro so its easy to get to. The night we stopped by, the just so happened to have a Organ concert going on - such a treat!

Wonderful place where I respect all the christian who go up on their knees. Rescently built but with the tradition of the past. Even if you are not christian you can appreciate
