Owner description: Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount-Royal, founded by Saint Brother André in 1904, is a catholic sanctuary and the largest shrine dedicated to Saint Joseph in the world. We welcome everyone to partake in panoramic views, music concerts and special religious celebrations; come discover natural, cultural and spiritual treasures in the heart of the city. You will marvel at the votive chapel containing 10,000 candles, the Oratory Museum featuring nativity scenes from around the world, the Original Chapel, the spectacular Garden of the Way of Cross, the Crypt Church and the largest domed Basilica in North America.

I have been visiting since I was a child. I always bring any visitors to Montreal to the Oratory. A definate must on your visit. My favorite has always been the Brother Andre exibit. Frome the stations of the cross on the grounds to the over the top view of Montreal, it is a must for all.

The history of how Brother André made this his lifetime goal is impressive; the hall of candlelit prayer stations depicting all the manifestations of St. Joseph with the votive offerings of crutches, canes and braces is even more impressive.
Also allow time to climb the stairs and view the city from the balcony, to visit the chapel and the main church and in the summer to visit the gardens, Brother Andre's cabin and the Stations of the Cross.

If you're looking for something to do while in Montreal visit St. Joseph's Oratory. It offers a lovely view and is very warm. We also visited the beautiful church prior which is stunning and is really touching.
