This was the last stop of our cross-Canada trip and one that told us it was time to go home. The whole city is one big building site, both Old Montreal and the new part. If you have any form of disability - especially wheelchair user avoid this city like the plague! 90% of old Montreal is wheelchair inaccessible and they put lamp posts in the middle of the pavement. In the newer part of the city we went to a mall where none of the lifts work so couldn't get to most of the stores and the ramps were made for pushchair use so no room to self-propel. The only city where I've had to travel 200 metres down the center of a main road to try and get on the pavement!

Beautiful history and architecture. I loved it and can't wait to visit again. The food is phenomenal.

A must to visit in Montreal. You can find beautiful places around the Place d’Armes, in fact, there are many beautiful coffee shops to spend the time.

We enjoyed our visit to Old Montreal! The history, architecture & culture were all fascinating. While nearby, we had the feeling of being in Europe v

Old Town Montreal feels very safe, lots of bars and restaurants. WE ate in the area every night. Try and stay in a hotel near to it but not necessarily in it.

As I stated elsewhere, wonderful to see. Be careful because our beautiful hotel, Hotel Manoir Victoria did not have an elevator. Just dozens of step steps - even just to get to the lobby.

Lots of restaurants, bistros, shops, art galleries, and cobblestone streets to meander. All the shopkeepers were friendly and any place we stopped to eat was good. Don't need an agenda just enjoy the architecture, people and food!

A few streets of restaurants, and gift shops... very touristy but does have a local feel.
It was a good way to spend a few hours... and we really enjoyed it

This area is really nice to walk through, filled with cobbled streets and old buildings. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area and tourist shops

A really lovely area to wander around and people watch!
Some really lovely independent restaurants and shops - as well as the typical tourist trap ones, as mentioned below, that you would expect.
