“Charming, fabulous inn in the heart of old Montreal”
Reviewed September 24, 2010

We were charmed by our stay at L'Auberge du Vieux-Port. While it is a very old building on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in the old restored section of Montreal, there's nothing antique about the inside. Our room featured exposed brick walls, wood floors, floor-ceiling windows (that swung open!) and marble bath w/ a full tub. It was just lovely, esp. because we chose a room that overlooked the river (a wise choice -- it's quieter than the back side of the hotel). The front desk, bellboys and wait staff were fabulous -- they couldn't do enough to please us. My husband and I would absolutely return to this lovely little inn. Can't recommend it highly enough.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. From the minute we arrived to the hotel, we had top notch service. We were made to feel welcome and they showed us that they appreciated our business.
Upon arrival, the gentleman at the front desk asked us if we had any plans. After we explained what we hoped to see and do, he gave us maps and helped us plan our stay so that we'd be able to accomplish all that we had on our agenda. He even gave us a few extra ideas just in case we had some time left over. He gave us tips on how to navigate the area, restaurant suggestions, shopping suggestions and the list goes on. He even offered to make any reservations we may need during our stay.
The breakfast was included with the rate of the hotel and let me tell you, it was awesome. There is a cold buffet stocked with breads, fruits and juices which you help yourself to and if you want to, you may also order a hot cooked meal, a la cart. We had just about everything because we were there for 3 mornings and my advice to diners, would be to bring your appetite. The food was delicious!
There is a computer (with printer) in the main lobby for guests to use. I used it to check my email, tripadvisor for more ideas while in town, and to check-in for our flight home. This is a real bonus for keeping in touch with family while you're away too. This way they will know that you arrived safe, are having a great time etc... Or if you're waiting for your spouse (lol) you can kill time checking our the internet, or facebook yadda, yadda.
Our room was on the fifth floor (top) and faced the waterfront area. Terrific view day and night (he boats and shops are all lit up in the evening). I liked to leave our window open even on a cool day because I loved the sound of the horses walking on the cobble stone roads. The toiletries supplied in the bathroom were from a local spa and were a nice treat to use. House keeping does a great job tidying up and were very pleasant. We bumped into them in the room once, and in the elevator a few times. They always smile and say bonjour...
Check out was a breeze. Quick and no surprises. They asked us if we needed a taxi and when we said that we were going to walk to the 747 airport shuttle, they gave us a map and perfect instructions.
Can't wait to go back and visit again!

We spent three nights in Old Montreal at Auberge du Vieux Port and loved it! Everyone in the staff- valet, front desk and restaurant staff- were all friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable - not high end luxury but very nice. Our room looked out over St. Paul Street and we liked sitting at the open window and watching the activity below... especially loved listening to the music during the day. We were worried that there might be too much noise at night, but once we closed the windows the room was very soundproof... having said that, we weren't there on a weekend night, which could possibly be different? The breakfast that is included in the price is a nice bonus. Be sure to check out the roof top terrace, although I wish they could do some soundproofing with the a/c units up there. I had a great, simple lunch on the roof top one afternoon - the choices are limited but it was very good. When booking my reservation I asked if they had any special fares and they gave me the third night at half price so if you are staying more than two nights be sure to ask for that. We loved the location and would stay there again if we go back.

Our family of four stayed in apartment 601 on the rue St. Vincent. It was spacious, comfortable, and clean (except for the sofa, which was a bit stained and old). We had two bedrooms, one with a king, and one with two full-size beds, which was ideal for our teenage kids. Overall, considering the price, location and square footage, a very good alternative to two hotel rooms. A WORD OF WARNING: the area bars are open Thursday-Saturday, and the street is EXTREMELY noisy, well into the wee hours. After our first night (a Saturday) I called the concierge and asked to be moved, but she assured me that the rest of the week would be much more reasonable. She was right--we had no other problems with noise. I would not stay there again Thursday, Friday or Saturday (at least in summer--I don't know if it's so raucous the rest of the year). Otherwise, yes.

My husband and I just returned from trip to Montreal and Quebec City and stayed at Vieux-Port for 2 days. What a wonderful place! Decor was beautiful. Loved the bed, very comfortable. The room was spotless. Friendly and helpful staff! Great location- right across from the water. We wouldn't change a thing.

I just returned from 3 nights spent at the Auberge du Vieux Port. Our spacious room overlooking the port had the charm of times gone by with the wooden beams and exposed stone walls but was modern enough to please those who prefer a standard hotel. Breakfast is delicious with ample choices. The staff is amazing-one of the best I have ever encountered at a hotel. There was nothing they couldn't do and always with a smile. Emily, Mylene, and Fred the bellhop made us feel right at home. I look forward to returning next summer.

Beautiful Spot right in the heart of Old Montreal. Our elegant room had a lovely view of St. Paul Street that made you imagine the history of times past. The room was well kept, and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The old wooden columns and stone/brick walls evoked a mood created nowhere else.
The location is perfect for a romantic Old Montreal getaway, surrounded by exciting things to do and see. The staff is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The breakfast was excellent.
I would recommend this place to anyone.
