My fiance and I drove up to Montreal from Southern Ontario. After a 7 hour drive we were looking forward to relaxing in what we were expecting to be an extremely beautiful and rustic hotel. Let me just quickly say that Auberge du Vieux-Port exceeded our overall expectations. Upon our arrival we were greeted promptly by friendly and helpful hotel staff. Staff were very good in offering suggestions of local restaurants and sights and really put an effort into meeting all of our needs.

The hotel is very conveniently located in Old Montreal, steps away from varieties of restaurants that could accommodate all sorts of tastes. Also nearby are art galleries, boutique shops, museums etc. Although the weather was quite chilly during our stay here, we decided to bundle up and take a stroll into downtown with the walk taking us roughly 10-15 minutes.

The building itself is I believe over 150 years old and has recently been redone. The rooms are stunning, offering interior brick walls, exposed wood beams, spacious and COMFY beds and large windows overlooking cobblestone streets. The bathroom for our basic room was also lovely and spacious with the rainfall shower being my favorite, it was a nice touch!

The hotel also offers its own restaurant which we only dined at during our continental breakfast, also there is a rooftop patio which opens in late spring and offers great views of the port and the city (as we have been told and seen in pictures), unfortunately it was closed during our stay.

The only dislike that I can point out if there is one, is the cost of valet parking I believe it was around $68 for the two night stay (they do provide unlimited access to the vehicle and are prompt and happy to retrieve it!). Before choosing valet parking however, we were informed that there was much cheaper parking just down the street from the hotel - so that is an option as well!

If we ever return to Montreal, this will definitely be the hotel that we choose to stay at again!

We enjoyed our stay, friendly service, nice rooms, breakfast were good with a nice selection. The location is great. It could probably get pretty noisy during the peak season. I would give it 3 1/2 because it was better than good but not very good.

This hotel is well situated in the old part of Montreal facing the port and has been well designed using the old buildings brick walls, timbers, window frames etc. The room was a very good size with excellent views to the front over the river. Excellent bathroom and whilst no bath, the shower was amazing with body jets as well as the overhead. Lovely comfortable bed with wonderfully fluffy duvet. We sat with the large picture window open and enjoyed the morning sun coming through watching people go by. Our package included breakfast which was swerved in the restaurant attached to the the hotel and offered a reasonable level of choice. The hotel staff were very helpful and courteous and it seemed they couldn't do enough for you. Not surprised by the number of awards this hotel has on display in the reception area

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view - will cost slightly more but worth it

This hotel is in Old Montreal, across from the river and from the moment you walk in you will notice the beautiful mix of old with modern. Brick walls, wood beams are present throughout this hotel carried into the rooms. The rooms are beautiful, clean, stunning decor that makes you feel like you are in a 5 star hotel. We stayed in the most expensive room, the river view with free breakfast. The bed was super comfortable, the chairs, paintings, desk were so handsome. The bedroom is big and lots of wood, wood doors, wood beams, just so elegant. The bathroom is one I
wished I had in my house. It is spacious and the shower is to die for. Large, beautiful tile and a fantastic shower head with a waterfall and body sprays. Breakfast was great! There is another door that takes you out to the main street to the restaurants and shopping. Finally the staff was superior. At your service and just so friendly. Both the night and day staff couldn't do enough for us. My only issue was the rooms were warm. There was no setting for air. Not sure if they have it. It was cool out at night and high 50's during the day but rooms too hot and had to sleep with windows open. This lead to a noisy nights sleep as you will hear people, horses and the 3 am train blowing it's whistle which tracks are right out the front of the hotel. This comment wouldn't prevent me from staying here again as it was nice to sleep with the window open. It just was too noisy to get a good nights sleep. LOVED this hotel!!!

Room Tip: Definitely the river view.

First of all, not only were the phone calls we made to change aspects of our reservation very accommodating and pleasant, we felt as if we mattered. From arrival to check out the only complaint would be our stay was too short.
The location and charm of the hotel were great. The breakfast included was very good with a great selection. My wife has an odd allergy, the first morning it could not be accommodated but many apologies with the promise that our second morning she would be able to eat what she wanted as a portion would be set aside for her sans allergy causing ingredient.
The staff was very helpful and never said no to any request for us or other guests that also asked.

Room Tip: Unless you take a bath every night any room will be great.
