“Customer Service Extraordinaire!”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

I just got back from an overnight stay here with my son. It was the first trip for both of us to Montreal. The hotel is in a fantastic spot, right in the heart of the Old Port district. When we arrived we were greeted by Mylene and she was most helpful and accommodating. Then Maxime assisted with our baggage and valet parking (apparently a long way from the hotel). He was very charming. Included in our package was a welcome drink for two as well as a full breakfast this morning which was amazing! We had room 101 with a view of the river. It was a gorgeous room with high ceilings and exposed brick walls with a boutique flair. The bed was the comfiest I've slept in a long while! Today we had Jocelyn at reception who again was very helpful. He allowed us to leave our bags in the room beyond the 12 noon checkout (until 3 p.m.) and also gave us extended parking until that time. When we arrived back at the hotel to check out at 3, Frederic had already picked up my car, brought all our bags from the room, hung my dresses in the car and packed everything up ready to go. All the staff always had a smile and were most helpful. Last night we had a drink on a terrace watching the fireworks display just across the street from the hotel, today we rented bikes a block away, then went to the Science Centre immediately opposite, walked around the shops and had a wonderful lunch on one of the hundreds of outside patios. There's also a rooftop terrace at the hotel. The only possible negative I can think of is that there were no screens on the windows:) I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central spot in Old Montreal with great customer service and wonderful accommodation.

Strengths: the rooms in the old section of the hotel are large and lovely, with views of the river; the location of the hotel is perfect for strolling the river and the old section; best of all, the service is excellent, with genuine concern for guests' needs.
Weaknesses: rooms in the newer section are weird--long and narrow, with cheap, flimsy light fixtures that are incongruent with the historic ambience of the hotel; cleanliness is not at the level it should be; those with special needs will find the elevator slow and the journey from elevator to some of the rooms challenging (since it requires going up and down two sets of short steps).
Perks: besides the service, a real perk is the complimentary drink on the upper terrace, which affords a beauitiful view of the port and bridge....the breakfast (together with service) is good, too.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room in the old section, where rooms are far larger and nicer than in the new part.

We stayed at this Hotel for our anniversary and found everyone from the front desk to the waitstaff and the bellhops extremely helpful. We were first put on the new section of the hotel but my wife wasn't too crazy about it it was very clean and nice but also had a very modern feel to it . The girl at the front desk was extremely helpful and we were moved to the older section of the hotel which was slightly larger and more of what we wanted and overlooked the street which was very entertaining. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this Hotel for a stay in Montral.

Surprised my wife with a trip to old montreal for her birthday. Out of all the establishments I have taken her to, this by far is the best of them all! Old world charm.Wonderful staff, the rooms are spacious, immaculate, and well appointed. The breakfasts are awsome and the homebaked croisants are to die for!! Also situated in the heart of all the attractions. You will have dinner at bonnaparte restaurant!!! Please trust me. Bocatta tapas bar is also a must.Cant wait to go back.

This hotel is absolutely perfectly located. When we arrived and were taken up to our room, it was not ready. We were offered complimentary drinks while we waited. Very nice. The room was in the new wing, so it was in excellent condition. Hardwood floors and exposed brick wall. Bathroom modern with great shower.
Now for the but.....the breakfast buffet was the most merger I have seen from a quality hotel. You can order from a menu to augment the buffet, which we did. The eggs were over cooked and the crepes rubbery.
Now the major but...during the middle of the night the fire alarm went off. It took more than 5 minutes for us to contact the front desk to find out that there was a malfunction in the system. The hotel had no plan for contacting it's guests in this type of situation to let them know what was happening.
All of the staff was very pleasant, the location wonderful, but with all the "buts" I can not recommend this hotel.

From the moment of arrival to the last day, we were met with the kindest most hospitable friendly employees. Stayed in room 503 (topmost level) with a breathtaking double window view overlooking the port. The day views are beautiful, and the nights (with lights reflecting on waters...nothing short of spectacular.

The room was absolutely comfortable, large bed, bureau with TV, mini-bar, refrigerator, desk, night stands, CD player, bathroom with multiple jet shower heads, wood floors and brick interior walls. A very "old world" flavor. It was quiet and well attended with maid service daily.

They serve a complimentary morning breakfast in their downstairs restaurant (very good selections of french toast, eggs, crepes, meats and cereals of your choice as well as juices and coffee/tea. Suggest you eat THERE instead of trying to find breakfast locally (most do not open until 11am)

Location was superb....located directly behind the hotel, a pedestrian street filled with shops, restaurants, pubs and entertainment. One block away fro Place Jacques-Cartier, a wide pedestrian only public square with many more restaurants, shops and street vendors/entertainment. ALL within easy walking distance.

Walk down the side streets to find more shops or venture across Rue La Commune to the port piers with shops, cinema and even a small lagoon for paddle boats...or rent a bicycle at one of THOUSANDS locked and rented by credit card ($5.00 per hour)

Get a good map of the area and you can walk anywhere down cobbled stone streets, to museums or churches (beautiful), parks, squares or even try your hand at the METRO (if you ride more than ONCE...buy a 1-3 day ticket) it is good for as MANY trips on metro and bus line as you would possibly need and saves money.

The hotel staff can guide you to any and all mentioned above. You will not be disappointed with this hotel and location. You definitely get what you pay for....keep that in mind.

My wife and I stayed here for the weekend of 7/15-7/17 and couldnt have been more pleased. The valet promptly greeted up when we arrived and brought our luggage to our room. We were greeted by our first names each time we saw the concierge or valets the rest of the trip (nice touch), service was excellent through out the stay.

We booked a king premier room with the river view. Room was on the 4th floor and was very spacious and clean. Two double windows opened to a nice view of the water. Exposed brick was great. Could be the most confortable bed we have ever has a hotel! The bathroom was recently remodeled with a spa tub for 2 (which actually fit 2 comfortably) and a glass shower with a rain shower, 3 lower jets or the detachable head, awesome.

We booked the summer getaway package which included free valet parking (not sure of the normal cost) and a bottle of wine with a cheese plate. We had a snack on the roof top bar which was nice, great view of the water and old city. Prices are a little high, but we expected that as most hotels bars are more pricey. Breakfast is inluded in the price and is better then most breakfast's that are usually offered. Options included, omelettes, egg and ham or bacon, crepes, french toast. Also, coffe, juice, crossiants, toast, cereal are complimentary regardless of what you order.

The only complaint we had was the speed of the elevator. There is only one elevator and wait times can appraoch 5-10 minutes if its busy. However, it wasnt really a big deal. All and All we highly reccomend this hotel and look forward to returning ourselves.
