Took a friend who was visiting the city. We saw both the permanent exhibit (worth the trip by itself) which is very well done with a lot of historical information and the benefit of walking through genuine old foundations and city sewers as well as the Queens of Egypt (a special exhibit at the time). Definitely world class and fascinating.

Along with the always present exhibit of the old Montreal settlement being displayed, new discoveries are being made and being added to this wonderful museum. Several times a year exhibits come to Montreal and are set up in Point-A-Calliere. Just recently we had the exhibit Queen of Egypt that just finished or is wrapping up this month in November 2018. We have also had Chinese exhibits. A great place for tourists to learn more about our beautiful city.

This exhibit was by far the highlight of the museum but unfortunately ends on November 4th. The well preserved artifacts from the Valley of the Queens were discovered around 1903 and was from 1400 BC.
On the lower level and through a refurbished stone sewer was an unfinished dig with a clear glass floor for visitors to peer into the foundations of Montreal. Up a level were stone remnants of buildings from the 18th century.

The Pointe-a-Calliiere Museum was an amazing view into the history of Montreal. We wandered for hours through exhibits contains artifacts from hundreds of years ago along with beautiful exhibits using today’s technology. Most poignant was the reverential display of photos of Montreal residents over the past centuries. Truly a loving and and creative display of Montreal’s history.

I visited specifically for the Queens of Egypt exhibit that I researched out before visiting. The rest of the museum was very informative about the early history and settlement of Montreal. At this particular time the Pirates exhibit was closed for improvements. The Queens of Egypt exhibit was extremely fascinating and made it worth the ticket price!

The museum shows the history of Montreal from the ground up. It is an archeological site turned museum. Loved it. The special exhibit was the Queens of Egypt. I always love Egypt exhibits.

This is an excellent museum. In particular, there was an Egyptian exhibit that was astounding. The museum is an easy walk from the old port area as well as the village.

This museum does a great job presenting the history and growth of Montreal (and Quebec province generally). Especially striking is how they have integrated the old foundations of buildings (archaeology) into the design and narrative. PLUS, the ticket included access to the limited-time Egypt exhibit, which was one of the best we've seen (and we've seen many).

This is a very diverse museum with much to see and a friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended and a great way to learn more about Montreal while seeing some remarkable exhibits, including Queens of Egypt which was on display while we were visiting. That was almost worth going to Montreal in the first place, it was that good.
