All kinds of stores here - I'm not a big shopper but if you are this is the area for you. All the major chains are here.

“the life of montreal”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

This place is busy all day and night it seems. there is plenty of fun stores and the downtown malls are in this area place villa maria and another one that I forgot the name of but its huge. There are lots of funky stores in the area of st cathrines street. it is long and adjacent to all the metro stations on the green line of the metro. There are also buses that travelling regularly and often along the street. You can find cheap internet shops and cheap restaurants on this street. its perfect for students and budget travellers. The street has classy restaurants and chic reastaurants with wonderful creative and new concepts. There is no lack of excitement and I loved getting new and innovative items and wonderful thrift shopping from the stores in this area.

“Main street in town”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Vibrant, busy, safe street in the heart of Montreal. Lots of great shopping and restaurants. Easy to get to from the green or orange line, and also easy to get to the underground city from here.

Lined with unique shops, Rue Ste. Catherine is a mecca for shoppers in Montreal. But leave the kiddies home. The shops are interspersed with erotic massage parlors and nudie bars, the street-level ads for which you may not want your children to view.

St Catherine is the place to find formal restaurants, small eateries, everything you need for shopping, shoe, dress shops, easy metro access, lots of 'ambiance', rain or shine, snow or sun, always full of people, the place where parades happen, singers sing,
