“Great but overprices... Tasting menu could be improve...”

PRO: The restaurant is really beautiful, even impressive.

CONS: Don't be fouled by the 20$ valet cost like I did ! There is parking everywhere for free... Amount of food way too small in some of the tasting menu. Food was great, but not impressive for the thousand dollar tab we got.

It is probably one of the reason why all other 5* restaurant where booked at Chrismas time and not that one...

“Pleasant surprise”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

If you are not from Montreal, may be hard to find: entrance is from a shopping area within a covered walkway between 2 streets, next to the Intercontinental hotel. Getting there is fun on its own, as there is even a piece of the Berlin Wall on display. Unassuming entrance, you don't know what to expect, but once you go in, you just know it will be a great experience. Combination of classical French/neo-Roman/Greek elements (really...), 3 stories or so high.
Bit on the expensive side, but worth it. Excellent food, starting with the walnut/cheese salad, through scallops, to filet mignon, cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines, very attentive service, very nice atmosphere. There is something about the place that just wants you to stay a bit longer and enjoy the surroundings. Will be back for sure and recommend highly, for pleasure or business purposes.

“The tasting menu!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

True to form this menu did not disappoint in any way. I took the menu home to try to recreate the courses because they were so unique and flavorful. The oxtail risotto, the beef cheeks and the salmon "pouched" in olive oil were extraordinary!! Thank you XO for serving us a truly fantastic experience.

“Great service, average food”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

The place itself is wonderful. Modern but warm. It would be hard to find better in Montreal. The staff was excellent. However, the food was average. I had a foie gras that seemed more like a mouse de foie gras. The lamb was served cold. I expect more from an upscale restaurant like this. Could be a great place for a drink until food improves.

“A regal experience”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

What a setting, so romantic, and the food was magnificent. I love the contrast of old world setting and modern french fusion. Splurge and have the tasting menu with wine pairing - great experience!
