“Local bakery with freshly made seasonal treats”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

This is a bakery which you will find in all of Montreal's City run markets, in the area around the Via Rail Central Station down town, on Mont Royal Street in the Plateau Mont Royal neighbourhood, on Bernard Street in Outremount and a few other locations.
Everything is made on the premises. The make so many variety of breads, baguettes. Their deserts change according to season. This are weekly special breads and monthly special breads both tangy and sweet.
My two favourite Premiere Moisson are at the Atwater and Jean Talon Market.
Montrealers before going to work, or doing their daily marketing will pick up a big bowl of café au lait and a baguette with cheese While we read the paper in the morning.

One unbelievable treat not found at all the bakeries is a chocolate- almond croissant. I love the tiny mini muffins.
For lunch my favourite are the salads.
The pâtés especially orange duck, creton and wild boar and blue berries on a toasted baguette are heavenly with freinds.

If you buy the breads and baked goods, you need to eat them within a few days as there are no chemical or preservatives.

Pick up a picnic, grap a bike and stop somewhere to enjoy lunch or breakfast.

“Train Station Surprise”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

I followed a recommendation in Jamie Oliver's Magazine to this boulangerie. The mistake I perhaps made was not taking the exact address recommended but rather using an online map to locate the nearest shop. Before I knew it, I was at the main train station!

That said, I ordered an Chocolatine with almonds. The first bite was yummy, the second better still, and so on and so on and so on. To my surprise the silky texture was owing to marzipan -- which ordinarily I dislike but which on this occasion was heavenly. If their whole menu is like this, you'd find winner after winner!

I might just suggest you seek out a "proper shop" rather than the train station option. The proprietor quite nicely pointed me to Second Cup when I inquired about a cappuccino, and this worked well enough. Something a touch more one-stop and atmospheric would have been nice, however.

“So much yummy food so little tummy space!”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

I went to the Atwater location which was quite big and had a large selection of breads, pasteries, tarts, French danish types (croissants, pains au chocolat), and freshly made sandwiches and deli kind of things (pizza, lasagne, etc...)

It was morning, had already had breakfast but coudln't resist having a SECOND breafast here. so delicious. The place is clean, the staff friendly, seating inside and out on the terrace and the food is heavenly, the only issue is the ratio: food/tummy space. I wanted to try everything it looked so good.

Highly recommended for breakfast , brunch or lunch. Beware though that they are quite popular so if you go in the afternoon for a snack you might find they have very little left at certain locations (they have several around Montreal).
