“Modern Québécois cuisine in a casual, fun setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

One of the best restaurant meals we've had in a while. Innovative, fresh, seasonal cuisine in a fun, unpretentious neighborhood restaurant. My husband and I were visiting Montreal for a long weekend and I put a lot of thought into our dinner reservations. La salle a manger was a triumph. We walked from metro Mont-Royal, enjoying the lively neighborhood. We were a little surprised by how causal the restaurant is -- tile floors, no tablecloths -- but appreciated how lively and friendly everyone was. The food is very serious though. Beautiful presentations, lots of seasonal ingredients and creative combinations. We were really surprised to see three (!) dishes with horse on the menu. Not something that happens much in the States! Avoiding the horse, we ate very well and were charmed by the friendly staff and felt like locals - almost.

“Noisy, casual and great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Very relaxed casual restaurant, full of 30 something hipsters. food is excellent, service relaxed, tile floors and hard surfaces everywhere result in a very noisy place. Wine list was a little disappointing, and seemed over-priced. Food however was excellent.

Truly great place for great memories. The service, staff, ambiance, decor, drinks, and food was nothing short of incredible. Young crowd. Fairly priced for quality and service. Highlight of my trip to Montreal. Highly recommend for all.

“Food should always be this good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

What a find! Inventive menu, good atmosphere, exceptional service. The waitress explained every dish with passion, recommended a fantastic wine, brought dishes to the person who ordered them without having to ask who ordered what.

The ceviche was a symphony of flavour with just picked fiddle head fern. The lobster risotto with rare veal was a triumph of texture and flavour.
