Description: Robin des Bois is a not-for-profit organization which donates all its profits to four field organizations working directly in the urban setting. The community: at once our motivation and our inspiration. It is staffed, for the most part, by volunteers, and all the profits made by the restaurant and through the sale of merchandise are redistributed to local charities working directly within the community to ward off solitude, social isolation and poverty.

“Worth seeking out”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

What a wonderful restaurant; good food, beautiful décor, super service and all the profits, including tips, going to designated charities. Why don't other restaurants follow suit?
We had a lovely meal which was no more expensive than others in the area [about 20 dollars a head, special offer] with attentive service. The concept of giving to charity was explained fully to us and the charities supported were also outlined.
Bought some home-made mango jam from them; proceeds also going to charity.
Only one negative; Lonely planet had the wrong address for this restaurant; they had moved up the same road, a bit, 5 years earlier. Lonely Planet really should be more up to date, but if it hadn't been for them talking about this restaurant, we wouldn't have known about it.
What a pity we were on holiday; this place is a find.

“Very enjoyable!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

This was my first experience with this kind of restaurant (I didn't know that they even existed). But we were very well taken care of by our waiter (a senior manager of Siemens), who did an excellent job in explaining the concept (and showed great potential for an alternative career in the restaurant business :-). My impression was also that the food was greatly appreciated by all (in our party of 8, consisting of kids, teenagers and adults, vegetarians, fish-lovers and carnivores). Live music added to a great atmosphere. A truely memorable meal.

“excellent service and food for an honorable cause”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

I had dinner at Robin des Bois once during a short visit to Montreal (if it had been longer I would have been back more than once, certainly). This is a non-profit restaurant, supported by sponsors, where the staff are volunteers (and the service was among the best I experienced in Montreal) and the profits go to charitable organizations. A very interesting project which would, by itself, deserve all my support and encouragement, but the food is actually carefully prepared and served and very, very tasty. They also have half-portions in some of the plates, which is something not seen so often (and is less expensive at the end if you're alone and don't eat that much...). Many vegetarian and gluten free options as well. I had an excellent salad and a half-risotto and it was more than enough. The decoration of the dining room is also lovely. The whole experience was very enjoyable!

“Tasty meal, good cause”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

I had the lentil soup, a vegetarian meal that was delicious (rice, lentils, and veg) followed by a great lime dessert. I eat well and all profits to to charity. I will return.

“Great cause, great food, great ambiance.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Service was overall quite good. Atmosphere relaxed but ecclectically upscale.
Inspired, tempting menu, very well-executed. Bit pricy for the wine by the glass, but
knowing all profits go to local, appreciated charities softened that pill. Great for small or
larger groups. They even offer a summer day camp for 10-13 yr olds! Will have to go back
when there's live music, and bring our 'ado'.
