“Prices Should Match!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2014

The menu here is quite extensive----pasta, Mexican, fish, beef, Chinese----it is all quite eclectic. My frustration was in ordering that the menu prices didn't match the bill that was presented. They always should, whether it's food or liquor.

The service was attentive, but conversations can be a bit difficult because of loud music and over-stimulating visuals that surround the area.

However, in terms of food quality both of us enjoyed our meal. Portions were appropriate, and the food tasty and delicious.

“New Year's Eve at the Saloon”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

Friends invited us to join them at this bistro in the gay village. I wondered if it would be very camp but there was a good mix of people. We were seated upstairs and enjoyed a five course meal. The first two courses were very enjoyable, fig and crispy bacon, goats cheese, etc. The main course i choose was a risotto, a very rich risotto, not soupy like i make. The mussels surrounding the risotto were fresh and tasty. The dessert was, well, not to my taste nor to the taste of anyone at the table. We spent an enjoyable evening and i would return under normal circumstances to see how it is. The one thing I did not enjoy was the tuneless 'music.' Other tables got very tired of the music also. It seemed very i appropriate for NYE!

“Please…..my eardrums!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2014

A few friends and us (my wife and I) attended their New Year's Gala, from 9:00 p.m. until around 12:30. The 5 course meal was acceptable but overly salted. The desert was pure sugar and all of us left it there! The ambiance was good. However, the owner hired a so-called ''DJ'' for the evening and he basically broke everyones's ears with his BORING and MONOTONOUS attempts at trying to make us believe he had more than a clue about music! It was MUCH TOO LOUD, to the degree that I put ear plugs in my ears. Nobody could hear themselves speak and the SAME BEAT for 4 hours made us all want to never go back there! A tip to the owner: for next year, get yourself a professional DJ and not a CLOWN!

“2 Wonderful meals!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

We ate here our first night of our trip and we were looking for a good meal and boy did we find one. It was busy and even on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend we got a table next to the window. We with a martini each, nothing special in them Im sad to say, both were on the small side but still were good in flavor. We started with the sample size app of 3 different tartars, one tuna, one salmon and the last was beef, they are out of this world! Every bite was amazing and it had so many layers of flavor. I had a pasta and pulled pork dish that was very good and my partner had a xxx burger with extra bacon and lots of cheese and served with poutine. We loved our meal we went back and for dinner we both had the dinner portion of the beef tartar and again it was amazing. Great place and clean as all heck and beautifully decorated.
